Hazenson Posted May 14, 2010 #1 Posted May 14, 2010 Well looks like the wife and I are gonna ride down to Durham N.C. spend a couple days with our daughter and look for work. Things just dont seem like there gonna pick up here anytime soon for us road workers. Ive always wanted to ride thru the Outer Banks, I read a article once about it in a biker mag and it just sounds awesome. So were gonna try and do that while downthere. Been putting some on-line apps in around the Durham/Raliegh area and thats where were hoping to relocate too. I am also a lia. builder so been looking in those areas too. Not sure exactly what are exact plans are as we like to wing it usually. But we got 12 or so days to ride and explore and thats what we gonna do. So far the plan is- leave Mich on May 28 -hang with Sarah (daughter) 30 and 31-- (only days she has off work), then we got 9 days before we need to be back home. Pam needs to be back at work June 10.
massey130 Posted May 14, 2010 #2 Posted May 14, 2010 Good luck to you guys. it is tough out there right now.
mini-muffin Posted May 14, 2010 #3 Posted May 14, 2010 Well there's a lot of us in NC if you need something. Plus any of us could probably meet up with you along the way. I live on the mainland side of the Albemarle sound which is the northern end of the OBX, got plenty on the southern end as well. Enjoy you're trip weather should be pretty decent. Up at my end there's kitty hawk, with the wright bros memorial, which is pretty cool. Jockey's ridge is a big sand dune, you might want to stop at it (no fee for that) but be prepared for the hike up the sand. Hwy 12 is a nice ride sound on one side ocean on the other. Well I'll let you make you're own plans. Be safe getting here. Margaret
painterman67 Posted May 14, 2010 #4 Posted May 14, 2010 aybay we coould get up for dinner or something . The wife and Iare only about 1-1 1/2 hrs away from durham. Let us know my number is in my profile. Good luck with the job search. David

FROG MAN Posted May 14, 2010 #6 Posted May 14, 2010 I'll be on the Outer Banks in 3 weeks. Hatteras Island to be exact. Riding,Fishing, kicking back on the deck with a little Wine??? Ahhhhhh MINI you bringing the WINE??
mini-muffin Posted May 15, 2010 #7 Posted May 15, 2010 I'll bring plenty of wine. We can sit out and watch the sun set like thanksgiving. Margaret
Shot Posted May 15, 2010 #8 Posted May 15, 2010 If you leave Durham and come down 64 Hwy East toward Rocky Mount, look for the Hwy 39 exit just out of Zebulon. Turn right onto Hwy 39 and Im on the corner of Hwy 39 and Hagwood Road, overlooking Bunn Lake, maybe 35 minutes from Durham. The pool is open and the bar stocked. Thats the good news. Bad news, I will be leaving on May 28 for DC and meet up with maybe 10,000/15,000 friends on motorcycles for Memorial Day. I'll be coming back on Monday, May 31. Other than that, come on down and enjoy some southern hospitality. I'll leave the light on for ya.
Squidley Posted May 15, 2010 #9 Posted May 15, 2010 Hazen, I have a niece just N of Charlotte that we moved down there from Michigan about 2 years ago. He husband is a woodworker/builder and if you like, I could forward your # on to her and see if he knows of some folks on the west side. Have a great trip and NC means you a few hundred miles closer
gunkylump Posted May 15, 2010 #10 Posted May 15, 2010 The Wright Brothers Memorial is awesome....and so is the food at the motel at Cedar Island. We jumped off the mainland to the Outer Banks using the ferry from Cedar Island a couple of years ago...the food in the restaurant is just awesome! Fresh flounder platter for $17, and you're a better man than I am if you finish it! Ocracoke Island has some great historic sites, and there are lighthouses all over the place out there! It's a great area to explore, PRICEY, but a great area with lots to see. gunk:smile5:
Hazenson Posted May 16, 2010 Author #11 Posted May 16, 2010 I'll be on the Outer Banks in 3 weeks bout the same time we'll be there I'll bring plenty of wine More of beer drinker here, but would love to hang out with ya's and see what kind of fish ya catch in the Big pond I'll leave the light on for ya looked that route up on the atlas and you are close. I will take your number with us and give ya a call when I think you are back. I have a niece just N of Charlotte I have a new cell phone-- # is 231 388 4957 you bet bro any help is appreciated We jumped off the mainland to the Outer Banks using the ferry from Cedar Island a couple of years ago.. That was the route I was thinking-just my first thought. I saw that the ferry was 75.00 for round trip-- does that mean 37.50 if were going on thru- or do ya have to come back? Looked like a free ferry got ya to next isle so was hoping we could just keep going north I think first thing I need to do tho, is see if anyone along the way that will be home, and has a carb sync tool, that would help me sync the carbs. Was just gonna do it at Dons MD but we wont hit that till were back.
