Needed an air shock pump for the '99, and found one on Ebay #360254648832 for about half the price Harley was asking.... for what looked like the same they have except this one was silver... Finally got it, and it's terrible. It was rated 0-60psi, but had to pump like he!! the get the front forks up to 10# and I gave up trying to get the rear shock past 35#. I wouldn't recommend this pump to anyone. I'm going to go visit a bicycle shop to see what they have.... You know what they say...Experience is costly. Hope this keeps another member from making the same mistake.... :mo money:

Condor....Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the max pressure for the front forks was just 7psi.............

And thanks for the heads up on the cheap air pump too.

7psi... or less... is pro'bly what the psi ended up at by the time the coupler was unscrewed from the shraeder valve stem. Truth be know it could be anything. The needle bounced from 0psi to 10psi on every stroke. Stop pumping and it sat on zero. Although I really wonder about the 7# max limit?? The 1stGen's will go to 17psi. Same on the rear. 2nd=57psi max, 1st=71psi max. And those 1st's are on the center stand. Pro'bly raises up even higher when set back on the side stand and gets warm. Regardless of what the psi's are, like I said... the pump sucks....

Condor.... who don't need no pigmies.....

I remember your original post about this pump ... glad I got the Progressive one from the HD shop. Just goes to show ya that the lowest price is not necessarilly the best deal.

The title of the thread got me to thinking, a dangerous thing!

I have decided that I disagree with the title, because I RARELY get what I paid for. Usually less, far less........ a sad commentary of the times we live in.

Got a very nice little hand pump at a local bicycle shop that looks just like the H-D pump. Screw on valve connector and nice gauge, but the psi range is more for very high pressure bicycle tires than a M/C, like up to 120#, which makes it pretty useless for the front forks. For that I had to get a low pressure tire gauge that ranges from 0 to 10 psi ($3 at the same store). But I rarely keep any pressure in the front forks anyway, and keep my rear shock at about 25 psi, maybe up to 35 when on a long ride with the wife on the back. The pump itself was $24.95, and it works very nicely. I even use it on the tires when I need to make small adjustments to them.

Condor,

I have the Progressive pump and it works very well.

Good for low PSI, and no air leakage on connect/disconnect.

It was a little pricey through at ~$35 or $40 several years back.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I did the same thing you did, tried a more economical option. Got the same result. Ended up having to buy the $ pump anyway...

Have a great day.

Bob
