Thanks Snaggletooth for bringing this up. I remember reading about it a couple of years ago and thought "oh, I should do that..." Never did. Until now. Around $5.00 Canadian and, honest to god, 15 mins of my time and she's good as new. Maybe even better.

You really need to look at this as $5.00 now to save substantially more in damage from a fall.

Is this something I should keep an eye on for my 2007 RSTD besides the usual check for loose anything.?

Was this ever answered? Does this bolt problem only apply to 1st Gens?

Thanks

All the reports that I have seen applied only to the first gen. Of course, as the RSV ages, it would be a good idea to check it from time to time also. Mine is a '99 which would make it 12 years old now so I sure think when they start getting that old, things like that should be looked at.

Yeah, I hate it when you get old and things start falling off. Fortunately, mine is a grade 8 so it is still working fine.

My bolt broke when in the garage.... bike fell over onto the shelving unit and stopped 1/2 way over with only some minor scratches. The big problem was to get it back upright from the high side... took me my wife and one large son to do it.

Took the stand to the machinist at work... he said...... well that is cr*p..... surprised it did not break sooner on that big thing..... he "fixed" the stand and said..... that will never break.... a bit of extra steel in there and a hardened bolt with a nyloc bolt.

Yep... come home after a 13 hour shift and there she is laying on her side..... forgot how heavy of a bike she is.

Live and learn, at least no body damage..
