Anyone remember what the part number is for the tow only shift arm for a 2nd Gen??? I know I read on the board some place where Yamaha makes one..... I'd do a search, but I don't even know what they are called....

Betcha the 2nd Gen as part of the Star line-up won't be around much longer either, considering accessories are getting hard to find and the only 2010 model choice is the beautiful black with silver flames on it (gag!). I had a friend fabricate a toe shifter for my '07 but it turned out bad so I kept using the stock shifter.

Hey you missed the thread where the Canadians have a nice two tone Blue for 2010, wonder why the did not offer that for US?

I know, that ticks me off so bad!! Not that I could afford one but still... Wonder what the reasoning was behind that!!

You could always just chop the existing arm behind the bolt hole. That would be the cheapest, easiest route.

I was looking on the Star website for the toe only shifter lever but couldn't find anything.

According to this post:

Yamaha has stopped making the shifter.

That's always an option, but if I screw it up there's no way to undo it. A member did post a part number for the toe shifter a while back, and there's gotta be one laying around on a dealer shelf somewhere. Another alternative might be to find one from a set of forward controls on a chopper and see if it can be adapted?? It'd still be nice to keep it an all Star.

I also have a Star Accessories catalog that my local dealer gave me. Really helps when I need to look up a part number.

what about getting one from pinwheel cycles and cut that one. Then if you don't like it you can always put the stock one back on. Might be a cheaper way to go.

Or, if you are really a tightwad like me.....cut yours off and try it. If you like it you are not out any $$ at all. If you hate it, then PinWall is your backup.

Well..... Crud!! Called Monty's lead, and they didn't have one in stock although they did show it on the web. I even put one in the basket and they jacked up the price to $104 bucks. Man that was quick... same results. Called a couple of other big dealers...same response. Looks like I'm gonna half to take a heel/toe to surgery.... Meanwhile I'll just keep on hanging shifts.... Grrr!!!!

I was tempted to chop mine also as I somehow manage to get the inseam of my lower pant leg and have this niggly feeling that I'm going to get stuck and drop the bike.. I mean it really snags the pant leg..

However, someone mentioned that though I might never use the heel shifter now, what would I do if I hurt my big toe or have a sore foot that prevented me from lifting up on the shift lever with my toe? I'd need my heel then.. Hmmm

yes or no... Hmmmmmm Pinwall might be a thought but the shipping kills it for us up here..

I'm going to see if I can adjust the heel peg to set below the floorboard. I've got a big foot and may be able to handle a high toe peg?? I'll give that a shot before doing the amputation.... :)
