slick97spirit Posted May 4, 2010 #1 Posted May 4, 2010 After reading through the post on the online station, it gave me some really good suggestions for songs to download to my MP3. Then I thought it would be a great thread. Be specific on the song name. As you guys recommend them, I'm gonna download the ones I like. Thanks in advance.... Already downloaded lots of CCR, Black Betty, Danger Zone, etc. Keep em coming.

Guest seuadr Posted May 4, 2010 #9 Posted May 4, 2010 My particular all time favorite is "Sultans of Swing" by Dire Straits. all of their stuff, honestly. haven't met a dire straights song i didn't like. favorite of mine is "brothers in arms" i have alot of ecletic music tastes, i'm gonna assume you want us to stick in the rock genra? the shins - new slang explosions in the sky - only moment we were alone, greet death, glittering darkness, your hand in mine, birth and death of a day, first breath after a coma band of horses - the funeral patty griffin - top of the world, heavenly day, rain, long ride home red fang - prehestoric dog cake - frank sinatra, the distance, never there, no phone, comfort eagle the ramones - we want the airwaves brandi carlile - the story , fall apart again, turpentine the black angels - young men dead , manipulation pretty much anything at all by andy mckee citizen cope - sideways, bullet, son's gonna rise that should keep you busy a while i specifically picked music from the path less traveled. we all know and love CCR, but something different and new is nice from time to time.
wngrr Posted May 4, 2010 #10 Posted May 4, 2010 I agree with all those who have posted. I have complied over 80 gig of music so it's impossible to pick just one song or one group but, I will throw some out.. Freebird Stairway to Heaven Green Grass High Tides My Sweet Lord Layla The Weight White Room Highway Star Dear Mr. Fantasy etc... Could go on for days...
Yamaman Posted May 4, 2010 #11 Posted May 4, 2010 gosh, this could go on for many pages. Here's a start: Stevie Ray Vaughn: Texas Flood Voodoo Chile and Little Wing (Hendrix songs) Pride and Joy Lenny Riviera Paradise Led Zeppelin: Stairway to Heaven (cliche, but still one of the greatest songs of all time) Pretty much everything else they ever recorded Lynyrd Skynyrd: Freebird Sweet Home Alabama Gimme Three steps That Smell ... and lots more Allman Brothers Band: Midnight Rider Ramblin Man Whipping Post Jimi Hendrix: All Along the Watchtower Voodoo Chile (slight return) Little Wing Hey Joe Purple Haze Wind Cries Mary Red House Joe Bonamassa: (if you don't know Joe B, and you like the above artists, you owe it to yourself to check him out - amazing blues rock guitarist) Burning Hell Lie No. 1 Your funeral, my trial Miss you Hate you If heartaches were nickels Pain and Sorrow River Mike Bloomfield: (another not too well know blues guitarist form the 70's) Killing Floor (a remake) Work Song Alberts Shuffle ... everything on the Essential Blues compilation CD Dream Theatre: (changing genres here - this is a progressive metal band - but very melodic. Think Yes or ELP crossed with Metallica) Pull me under Space-dye vest Lie Mirror Learning to Live Creep by Stone Temple Pilots Pieces & Crawling in the Dark by Hoobastank Tonight by Elton John OK, that's enough to now. Enjoy! Looking forward to seeing what others post here.

Agreed. All Dire Straights as well as Mark Knopflers solo stuff. Possible exception - I get real tired of hearing Money for Nothing. My vavorite of their CD's is actually one of their least successful - On Every Street. Love Heavy Fuel and the Windsheild/Bug song. (not sure of actual title)
