Gary N. Posted April 28, 2010 #1 Posted April 28, 2010 I just got an e-mail message that my late wife's cousin's husband was involved in an accident in Edmonton on Monday. Another case of a driver making a left turn in front of the bike rider. Be careful out there everyone. Our families don't need the grief. Here's the note. I spent the whole day Tues. at the hospital. He was out of surgery around 1:45 pm. On his way to his room he saw me waiting and gave me a little wave. After 15 minutes of prep I was able to sit next to him. I never spoke to any doctors, none came around while I was there. Tony woke up sometime last night or this morning (April 27) and did not know where he was. He does not recall the accident.. They told him you are in the hospital and you were in a bike accident. He fought to stay awake the whole time I was there and ate a big supper although kept closing his eyes after a few bite and I would say Tony and he would open his eyes and start chewing. He was given a shot for pain, ate well and I left him afterwards. He remembers everything expect the accident. He asked me where it happened and how. Wow!!! The police officer I spoke to said the guy actually stopped as Tony hit him and that saved his life. Thank you Lord !!!!!!!!!! He is also being charged with the accident ( the other guy not Tony). The guy was making a left at the intersection and Tony going straight through. What Tony tells me is that they put a plate in his left wrist as well as his ankle and there are some broken ribs. I want to actually confirm everything with the surgeon Dr. Webber. At one point he said to me " I guess my bike ain't pretty". I said nope and changed the subject. I actually don't even know where it is. The accident happened south of Edmonton closer to International airport in a town called Nisku. I am thinking a towing co, there has it. He has his right wrist wrapped that sustained a gouge of a cut that they stitched and of course his left wrist wrapped. I was amaze at how well he managed to eat by himself although I had to cut his food. He did look fine and his sense of humour was present in a few of our conversations. He was told 6-8 weeks before he can walk. The healing process starts now. He was in good spirits today, just droggy from the meds.
T.J. Posted April 28, 2010 #2 Posted April 28, 2010 Sorry to hear about that Gary. At least he is alive and eating well. I hope he recovers quicker than 6 - 8 wks. for walking.
Monty Posted April 28, 2010 #3 Posted April 28, 2010 Glad to see he survived the ordeal. Now, time for quick healing!
