Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted April 26, 2010 #1 Posted April 26, 2010 Yesterday our Yamaha dealer in Sumter had his annual open house. In spite of the slight rain, Pecker joined us for the ride over. We ran into Mike G while we were there!. The first picture shows Sleeperhawk and Pecker wiping down their bikes (both bikes were immaculate when we left the house!) The second one is Sleeperhawk trying out the seat Mike G has on his bike! Because of the threat of rain, a lot of people did not ride their bikes, but it was a great turn out! They had a live band with food vendors and prizes. The dealer was offering free dyno runs so both guys had their bikes tested. Sleeperhawk's Venture reached 71.2 HP at 99 mph and Peckers' Royal Star Tour Deluxe made it at 72.6 HP at 111 mph. :thumbsup2:There was a great difference between the sound of their bikes and some Road Stars that were being tested. The Road Stars sounded anemic! The last picture is of a flashlight that Jacque got for George to use for the bike and it came in handy today when George was checking the wiring on the bike (I did not have to hold a flashlight all that time!)
Yammer Dan Posted April 26, 2010 #2 Posted April 26, 2010 Hey Bobbie!! Those LED lights that fit on your head do a great job! Strap them on your head and they put light where you are looking!! Harbor Freight has them for a few bucks. One of those things you wonder how you ever did without it!!
Wanderer Posted April 26, 2010 #3 Posted April 26, 2010 Just for me, you guys could act like it's not 80 degrees outside. Oh well I don't care. I still get out. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_xOOWRVc9-a4/S9TOZhAtl1I/AAAAAAAABhQ/lNgpY6VEVbo/s640/SAM_0104.JPG

Mike G in SC Posted April 26, 2010 #6 Posted April 26, 2010 Hey guys, Bobbie, the Roadstars were turning about 58-60+ HP. I think my old R* was low 60's. My RSTD turned 72.1 @ 111. Right in between yours and Pecker's. Sumter did some tuning a few months ago. Great dealership. Al said the Strat's turn around 70HP. Too bad Ultimate Seat doesn't make something Sleeper Hawk might like. I have a Mustang on my Strat and it's not much better than stock. I put a Mustang on my old R* for two hours. Like Goldielocks said, "and this frigging seat is too hard",,, or something like that. The Ultimate seat on my RSTD is for long trips, all day. But the Venture passenger seat is probably better than the Ultimate rear seat. Good seeing you guys there. And Wanderer, I've been checking out some of your Google albums,, where are you now? Mike G in SC
Wanderer Posted April 26, 2010 #7 Posted April 26, 2010 "And Wanderer, I've been checking out some of your Google albums,, where are you now?" Currently in Flaming Gorge (Dutch John, UT). Looks like around May 10th I'll be heading south to Montrose, Co.

Wanderer Posted April 26, 2010 #9 Posted April 26, 2010 It gets very cold there in the winter too, but dang you will be in some great riding country. :crying: This winter I'll be getting some spiked tires.
Sleeperhawks Mechanic Posted April 26, 2010 Author #10 Posted April 26, 2010 This winter I'll be getting some spiked tires. You can only get the spiked tires if you get the spiked hair to go with it!:cool10::rotf:
Mike G in SC Posted April 26, 2010 #11 Posted April 26, 2010 Wow Ted, I just Googled Dutch John, UT. Your nearest Wal-Mart is 35.14 miles!!!! (Take that as good or bad!) And, looking at Google Maps satelite, Ashley Forest with no trees! But the important part,, where in the hell is the gas station?? I guess reserve will get you to Wally world. Be safe,, and warm(?) out there. Mike G.
Wanderer Posted April 26, 2010 #12 Posted April 26, 2010 I guess I'll get one of those spike pieces like you put on helmets and glue that to my head. Mike the Walmart is actually 37 miles away in Vernal, UT. We stay at the Flaming Gorge Lodge and work at the dam, 6 miles north of the lodge. If you are a fisherman this is the place to be, but it for sure sucks if you're living here. Here's a photo from the top of the dam. I think we were running pipe for some security cameras.
