Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 #1 Posted April 24, 2010 Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash is absolutely wonderful , I have to admit that I was very skeptical about this product, I give it a 10 out of 10 (Awesome) First of all our water here in Iowa is extremely hard and you folks know what happens to chrome and the paint job if your not fast enough in drying, I have even tried using the soft-water out of the tap in the laundry room. even that will dry with salt left over. our water should be at about 3 grains PPM but it is around 55 Grains PPM Having said all that. I proceeded to wash my trike today and she turned out wonderful , just walk away and it will dry with no spots. but I could not help myself and had to try and dry it. what I liked is that you have till the end of time to wipe the chrome and plastic parts down with no spotting. I was so excited that I walked over and washed both our Cars as well. Guess what? NO HARD WATER SPOTS. simply walk away from the car. My other experiment that I have found and still need to try, is that you mix up a 1/2 cup of BORAX 20 Mule Team to 5 Gals of warm water and place your pressure washer siphon into the bucket, and rinse the car or bike with that. I am told that works very well also. The refiles for Mr Clean Auto Dry Car wash are kinda pricey. this item can be purchased at Walmart when in season and Target Stores and of course on-line. that is how I got mine. also do a a search and read the reviews, I think some do not follow the directions. it has its own soap as well. Just keep turning the dial. Just wanted to share this with you folks. Jeff
adventurer 08 Posted April 24, 2010 #2 Posted April 24, 2010 Last week i was at my ACO hardware store and was they had the hole package with starter soap and filter for just $5.00 each. I all ready have one but for that price i bought four more because the soap and filters are hare to find.
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #3 Posted April 24, 2010 Right. I found my starters for $4.95 each and bought (2) of them thinking of getting about 5 more *LOL* I am even bidding on eBay for the rinse packs of 10 washes now. The starter pack is only 3 or 4 washes. Oh, and on another note I forgot to add the my original post is that you can also use the weed&feed canisters with the Borax mix in them on your water hose for a final rinse. I will practice with that next week
adventurer 08 Posted April 24, 2010 #4 Posted April 24, 2010 The only place i found soap and filters is K-mart for $6.99 for the 20oz soap and 10 wash filters. What is that borax mix?
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #5 Posted April 24, 2010 You got BOTH WASH AND RINSE for $6.99 >?????? 10 wash/rinse packs?? now that is a good deal. I still can not find them at our walmart hear yet. You get a box of Plain old BORAX 20 Mule Team Powder and mix and you can put about a 1/2 cup into a weed feed des. and turn the water on and rinse with the mix. and there is not supposed to be any spotting as well. I still have not tried this yet.
adventurer 08 Posted April 24, 2010 #6 Posted April 24, 2010 That was $6.99 for each one. I bought a few of each because there so hard to find. I think i am good for a few years. I really like the system. :sun:
Guest scarylarry Posted April 24, 2010 #7 Posted April 24, 2010 I use the turtle wax soap in mine and does great, and the filters I'm not changing that often cause the water is not that bad. If you think your bike looks great try it on a black truck.......NO water spots at all this is what sold me...
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #8 Posted April 24, 2010 Yeppers, Just used it today on my BLACK Convertable New Beetle I am ticked pink over this product, now why have you folk not told me about this before? I take it that this has been out for a few years now. I thought about trying megirers (sp) soap in mine. you have no clogging issue's? Then that way all I need to worry about is the water filters in the future.
Oldslow Posted April 24, 2010 #9 Posted April 24, 2010 Does it hook up to a garden hose or a pressure washer?
Guest scarylarry Posted April 24, 2010 #10 Posted April 24, 2010 I been using mine for about 5 yrs, use the soap that came in it then switch to turtle wax soap from Sam's and never has a single issue, they want you to think u have to use their soap but you don't...
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #11 Posted April 24, 2010 Thanks Larry Wade it hooks up to the garden hose
Monty Posted April 24, 2010 #12 Posted April 24, 2010 I have a well, with white sand. Pure water, and no water spots....guess I should consider myself lucky.
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #13 Posted April 24, 2010 YEP, lucky you are sir... Well guys, I just emailed customer service (Carrand company) about why its it so diffacult to find refills, I should have an answer as were to purchase the refills I just want more rinse cartrages, Umm I wonder if it is just borax in those refills ? i will mess around with one when empty. and see if I can add some to them.
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #14 Posted April 24, 2010 Looky at what I found at Carrand Company that makes the Mr Clean system. http://www.carrand.com/turtlewax.html I think you got that part figured out
dunvilsteev Posted April 24, 2010 #15 Posted April 24, 2010 http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=47225&highlight=clean Hey guys, please see the above thread. When I contacted P&G about the lack of soap and sponge refills I was told that they are DISCONTINUING the product. I know bummer huh?
Guest scarylarry Posted April 24, 2010 #16 Posted April 24, 2010 I'm at work and the web filter block the link, I'll check when I get home I would not mix a granular up of any kind, but the any liquid will work
Cougar Posted April 24, 2010 Author #17 Posted April 24, 2010 I am finding that out as well, them stopping it. there is bunches on ebay though http://cgi.ebay.com/Mr-Clean-AutoDry-10-Use-Refill-Filter-3-PACK-NEW_W0QQitemZ140400695483QQcategoryZ11702QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DDLSL%252BSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D20%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8998552862121768298
Karl C. Posted April 25, 2010 #18 Posted April 25, 2010 I have a well, with white sand. Pure water, and no water spots....guess I should consider myself lucky. you are lucky, most in that area have clay and most water looks like blood or something close to it...lol...
Karl C. Posted April 25, 2010 #19 Posted April 25, 2010 One thing I have tried though is using that rinse for dishwashers to get rid of hardwater stains and it did a really great job. Cant remember name of it but it is like a blue thick liquid. I just put a little in the water and let it do the rest..
Guest Swifty Posted April 25, 2010 #21 Posted April 25, 2010 I'm heading into my 3rd year using this system and I love the product. I would never think about a black car because of the extra work required, but this system makes it a snap. I get about 3 or 4 washes out of a filter. By the mess that gets left when you don't change the filter in time you really get to see how great this system works.
Reed Posted April 25, 2010 #22 Posted April 25, 2010 Has any one tried the borax trick yet???????? Just wondering if it works!
Cougar Posted April 25, 2010 Author #23 Posted April 25, 2010 Take a looksy http://www.ehow.com/how_2280854_wash-car-spot-free-rinse.html
Eck Posted April 25, 2010 #24 Posted April 25, 2010 Swifty, What are you holding up with both hands in that picture...........
