E-Fishin-C Posted April 23, 2010 #1 Posted April 23, 2010 The Yamaha engineers ,what were they thinking , That you have to remove the Gas tank to reach the rad cap, what they ran out of ideas where to have an extension,,,,, AS IF,,, The 1st Gen is easier to Maintain and yes I do miss the 1st Gen It's definately a Sport Tourer in my books But than The 2nd gen is much comfortable to ride even if up here Im called as a Wanna Be Harley
gibvel Posted April 23, 2010 #2 Posted April 23, 2010 Maybe there were thinking that you should use the overflow bottle under the seat unless you were changing the coolant. No wanna be for me. Don't really want a Harley.
Bummer Posted April 23, 2010 #3 Posted April 23, 2010 ... up here Im called as a Wanna Be HarleyWhen someone tells you that, roll your eyes and tell them they obviously don't know anything about motorcycles. The Venture is clearly a wanna-be Indian.
BradT Posted April 24, 2010 #5 Posted April 24, 2010 But than The 2nd gen is much comfortable to ride even if up here Im called as a Wanna Be Harley Your probably started it. Brad
massey130 Posted April 24, 2010 #6 Posted April 24, 2010 at the texas maint day, i learned about that radiator cap under the gas tank. i thought WTF?? and you have to baby feed coolant into it or spill all over the place. it is a real pain. i will save that one for a time when i have other stuff to do that requires the tank off.
midnightventure Posted April 24, 2010 #7 Posted April 24, 2010 I was on a trip to Duluth Mn a couple of years ago and developed a radiator leak. I got to where I could get that tank off in about 5 minutes. I also found out that JB weld for wet areas will work to patch a radiator.
Gary N. Posted April 24, 2010 #8 Posted April 24, 2010 Ya but the best part is you get to drive it 300 kms. to empty the tank before you lift it off....LOL
