Seaking Posted April 23, 2010 #1 Posted April 23, 2010 Hi guys, its been determined that I had most likely 'burnt out' my clutch this past weekend on the advanced rider's course, hence why my clutch travel on the lever is sooo minute, the friction plates have thinned out so much, that's all she wrote.. So I have to replace the friction plates and to hedge against the possibilities of further troubles, I'll be changing the steel plates as well.. and do an oil change.. I probably have 20,000 miles on the PCW kit since I installed it.. and I ride my bike like I stole it.. (in some ways I did I don't know if there any other aftermarket friction plates available for our bike or not, but I also can't find my info as to how many of each plates the clutch takes as I did the PCW mod of removing the half disc etc.. ?? Aftermarket or OEM plates.. Any help or advice would be appreciated..

Thanks Don I couldn't find anything 'barnett' listed for our bikes, just the RoadStar (compatible parts?) I'm all still a bit confused about the removal of the half-disc I did with the PCW spring plate mod.. Does the Barnett kit cover that I wonder? I've been searching tall and wide for a set of clutch plates.. not having much luck..
skydoc_17 Posted April 23, 2010 #4 Posted April 23, 2010 Hey Pete, Yamaha makes a great clutch. With that being said, I can supply you with all new friction discs, all new clutch plates and a new clutch cover gasket for $120.00 plus shipping. If you are interested, Let me know. Earl
RedRider Posted April 23, 2010 #5 Posted April 23, 2010 If I recall correctly, with the PCW inner clutch plate mod, there are 8 friction plates, and 7 steels. The pricing for this set from Skydoc_17 is pretty good. $140+ from Bike Bandit. You also know you will get exactly what is needed from Skydoc_17. RR

RR Thanks all for the assist.. yes, it is indeed 8 friction and 7 steel.. I had called around this morning for parts and such.. there was a fine balance between cost and time line to take into consideration.. SkyDoc was seriously the cheapest for sure but time wise it wasn't my best option, and when you consider the cross border BS we go through all the time, it then gets expensive etc. I had a good buddy of mine set up with a great price from the weinership, and the parts will be here on Monday.. Funny enough I had to insist with the dealership people that yes, 8 and 7 is what I needed.. not 7 and 7 and a wee weird disc.. gees. Once again, thanks to all for their assist..
