I have to thank the Black Owl Trailer Service. I needed to trailer the bike back from our ride today. It turns out that today was the last ride of the season for us. We are thanking God every minute that it turned out just fine.

 

At one point in our ride we had to pull off the road for an ambulance. There happened to be a very wide crack in the pavement, between the road and shoulder, that the motorcycle tires went into and made me almost lose control of the bike. I got back on the road and all was good (so I thought). About 40 miles later we stopped for food. I was standing back from the bike stretching from our long ride when I noticed a large gash in the sidewall of the rear tire. Upon further inspection I could see that a large hole had been torn though the outer layer of the tire's sidewall and I could see the inner layer of the tire. Had the tire blown out we could have had a severe accident. I called a few family members first and they could not come out to get us. I remembered that I Black Owl's phone number in my phone and I gave him a jingle. It turns out he was just waiting for a reason to go for a long drive.

 

God was watching out for us. On the trip back my wife was saying that she always says a prayer before leaving on a bike trip and today she had forgotten. About half-way through our ride today she remember and prayed. Shortly after that is when the tire was damaged, but held until we stopped and could see it was damaged. It was pure chance that I saw the gash in the tire since most of the rear tire is cover by the rear fender and saddle bags. Only a small portion is visible while standing and looking at the tire.

 

God was watching us.

Juggler I am glad that you and your wife got to see the damage to the tire before any major problems developed. Its a GREAT feeling when you call a member of this site and they come to get you when there is a problem.Beer 30 did the same for me last year.

Glad you two noticed it, before something happened. 07 may be over now but at least you will starting 08 on the right foot.

More than one of us has had to go get the Muffinman because of tire trouble, he had a flat on his way to my house one night and I had to take some tire sealant out to him so he could limp it in to my place, then he stole the rear wheel off of Clay18's bike to make the trip back to Savannah..............:stirthepot: Muffinman is definitely hard on tires...........

Just glad I was able to help. Besides, it gave me an opportunity to see what modifications I need to make to the trailer to transport a 2d Gen. Never having had to haul a 1st Gen yah know :rotfl:.

 

One minor little thing Juggler overlooked. After we got tyhe scoot onto the trailer, it turned out we needed about 6 inches more to get the rear gate to latch . So, being the genius that I am, I said, "You know, if we back the scoot onto the trailer , the hitch will hang out over the front rail and we can get the ramp to lock.

 

Has anyone tried to back an 800 pound 2d gen up a trailer ramp????:bang head:

 

We own a big thank you to the Harley mechanic who helped us load the scoot onto the trailer.

 

All's well that ends well. We got it backed onto the trailer, the ramp latched, and after lashing the scoot down we were off like a turd of hurdles.

 

Will be making the modifications to the trailer today.

NO ! I am not that Silly. I back it down it's easier that way.

 

PS I made the trailer 10' long.
