Freebird Posted April 18, 2010 #1 Posted April 18, 2010 Interesting concept and I think a pretty good idea but at what looks like about $385.00 in US Dollars, I think I'll pass. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/reevu/msx1/
Freebird Posted April 18, 2010 Author #3 Posted April 18, 2010 Yea right...like mirrors aren't so OLD SCHOOL.
BOO Posted April 18, 2010 #4 Posted April 18, 2010 Yea right...like mirrors aren't so OLD SCHOOL. That's probably why no one uses them. OLD SCHOOL.... Go figure... BOO
Bummer Posted April 18, 2010 #5 Posted April 18, 2010 Finally! A helmet for those who've always wondered what sort of shenanigans their passenger's up to...
JPM Posted April 18, 2010 #6 Posted April 18, 2010 That could get confusing. If you turn your head to the RIGHT, you will see what is behind an to the LEFT. If you have a passenger, that may be all you see. Joe
LilBeaver Posted April 18, 2010 #7 Posted April 18, 2010 Finally! A helmet for those who've always wondered what sort of shenanigans their passenger's up to... I agree that this is an interesting idea however, I don't think I'd be comfortable having that glass/metal INSIDE the helmet. I am sure that they have crash tested it numerous times, I wonder how often the mirrors shatter and end up in the crash dummies face/eyes. Between that and the price, I'll pass as well. But, interesting idea - yes.
OutKast Posted April 19, 2010 #8 Posted April 19, 2010 The mirrors are not glass, they are polycarbonate so as not to shatter. This creates a slightly "woozy" image. Since the rear seat on a Venture is so much higher than the rider seat, I agree worthless with a passenger. My idea would be a bluetooth rear mounted camera, connected to a heads up display on the faceshield , ala corvette gauges.
bongobobny Posted April 20, 2010 #9 Posted April 20, 2010 Actually, Don, I am seriously considering springing $100 for one of those cameras mounted on the licence plate and act like a rear view mirror. I'll just mount the LCD display somewhere on the dash, perhaps on top of the windshield where a rear view mirror normally goes...
elag Posted April 20, 2010 #10 Posted April 20, 2010 So that's how my old school teacher did it. She always said she had eyes at the back of her head.

OutKast Posted April 20, 2010 #12 Posted April 20, 2010 worthless??? That depends how low cut her shirt is...... ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Like the one Kitty is wearing in my Avatar?
AlbertaClipper Posted April 20, 2010 #13 Posted April 20, 2010 I would have to wear my bi-focals upside down to see what's behind me. But then I wouldn't be able to see what's in front of me. Do they make tri-focals with reading lens on the top and bottom and just glass in the middle:confused07:

My idea would be a bluetooth rear mounted camera, connected to a heads up display on the faceshield , ala corvette gauges. Okay. I guess I didn't think about it all that hard. Still, as a personal preference, I'd like to keep the possible projectiles in the helmet to a minimum - but sounds like it is probably a non issue. As for the camera and projection/HUD deal - that would be pretty slick.
bkuhr Posted April 20, 2010 #15 Posted April 20, 2010 Simple test done today while riding, looked up and focused on inside of helmet where glasses would be. Too close, could not cleary focus. If little tv image, it would be very hard to see clearly
