GaryZ Posted April 14, 2010 #1 Posted April 14, 2010 Ok gang, I have a question and this is the place to get lots of opinions! I have installed Vmax cams and springs in my 1987 Venture 1300 engine. Venture intake valve lash is the same as the Vmax. However, exhaust valve lash is different; Venture: .16 - .20 mm Vmax: .26 - .30 mm Which lash will be right for my Frankenstein?
Squeeze Posted April 14, 2010 #2 Posted April 14, 2010 Vmax Clearance is the Way to go. The Vmax Valves are different smaller Stem and therefore expand a little more when the Engine's running.
dingy Posted April 14, 2010 #3 Posted April 14, 2010 Squeeze, GaryZ's doesn't have the full heads, just cams & springs. Rest of head is Venture with stock valves. Still go with wider clearances? Gary
Squeeze Posted April 14, 2010 #4 Posted April 14, 2010 Oh, I'm sorry, my bad ... For Venture Valves, please use Venture Clearances
dingy Posted April 14, 2010 #5 Posted April 14, 2010 Alrighty then, Shim tool & valve shims are on the way to me. (Thanks MiCarl) Glad I found out about this now before all the plastic was back on. Vmax service manual shows same as Venture in one place, and different in two others. Guess which one I read. Gary
