eazyduzzit Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I have a 2005 RSTD and I bought an intercom for it last November. I bought it so Karen & I could talk on longer trips. So far We've only taken 2 long trips. Once to Daytona in November, and we just got back from Ohio. So far we've had to send the intercom unit in for replacement, and on this week's trip we were close enough to just stop at Sierra Electronics where we bought the intercom, and had both headsets replaced because the speakers went out. The people at Sierra are nice enough, but it's a real inconvenience to have it not work when you need it. Did I just get a lemon, or is this brand just junk?
uthpda Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I had imc for a couple years and it has been ok. I replaced it with a new unit this year, the pins kept getting bent so I change to the new plug system...so far so good. For the price it is hard to beat.
eazyduzzit Posted April 14, 2010 Author Posted April 14, 2010 We have used ours twice. The first time was on a trip to Daytona. It worked going down, but on the way back nothing. Sierra replaced the main intercom part under the seat. The second time was this week. My left ear went out, then her left went out, then my right started working on and off, then hers did the same. We stopped at their shop in Troy, OH and they replaced both headsets, but I don't want to do this every time we take a trip.
uechi kid Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 My I suggest J&M products. They are most likely going to be more expensive but they work well. I ride with the Star 186 group and a quite a few of our group have the J&M CB, intercom, Aux amp set up. I haven't heard any complaints from anyone.
