straycatt Posted April 25, 2010 #26 Posted April 25, 2010 Karl, I thought the same thing just buy and self install a vent. Then my imagination got the better of me... I could not find a HOW TOO cut and install a Vent. I could see myself drilling and cutting and then BAM (A Cracked Windshield)!!! I sent Clearview an email about getting one of their vents, John replied that they'd be happy to sell me one and even include a template for the cutout. Seems like it was $59 plus shipping. These shields are very easy to work with if you're just a tad careful.
b2dad Posted April 25, 2010 #27 Posted April 25, 2010 Just took my X LARGE Clearview sheld off and found a crack in it just at the bottom of the vent, so be sure to check them real good. It was about 18 months old. DON:crying:
YamaDuck Posted April 25, 2010 #28 Posted April 25, 2010 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Clearviews customer service sticks. Two emails 15 months later still no reply. I feel better now.
1BigDog Posted April 25, 2010 #29 Posted April 25, 2010 I just have to ask.... what is so different about a clearview windshield over an oem? I mean over 260 bux vs. 88 bux for a new oem and I am just wondering what is the difference. Do they not turn foggy as soon as oem or ???? thanks for any input at all.. The Clearview shield is thicker and wider than stock. It also angles back more giving it a more streamlined appearance.
Color01 Posted April 25, 2010 #30 Posted April 25, 2010 I stay away from company's like that ..who don't answer there emails or phone calls..Thats why is my windshield made by Show Chrome ( great Quality for only 85 bucks )
starkruzen Posted April 25, 2010 #31 Posted April 25, 2010 I got mine a week after I ordered it. Perhaps they had it instock as they make them to order.
Dave3 Posted April 28, 2010 #32 Posted April 28, 2010 I'm thinking about getting a Medium tinted Clearview w/vent. I had the Yamaha 12" short/wide shield, but it was not scratch resistant to gravel. ;( Is the Clearview Med as short as the Yamaha Short? Is it really worth the wait and price??
YamaDuck Posted April 28, 2010 #33 Posted April 28, 2010 Don't know Dave. I have the Clearview XXL with the vent. If you put the vent in a medium you may not ave any room left above the vent. You may want to see if anyone out there has the medium windshield with the vent?
