Venturous Randy Posted April 13, 2010 #1 Posted April 13, 2010 I have borrowed a friends GPS and one thing I thought it would have is elevation. My son bought my grandson a GPS several years ago and it was pretty basic, but it had elevation for the location you were. Evidently, this Garmin does not have that feature. Do other GPS's have the elevation feature? RandyA
LilBeaver Posted April 13, 2010 #2 Posted April 13, 2010 Most GPS units are configured to provide an elevation readout somewhere. I would be surprised if the c580 unit does not have it (it very well could be buried somewhere) but I have never messed with that particular model so maybe it is one of the few that don't. Hopefully someone else can chime in to provide more insightful information regarding this particular unit.
elmicko Posted April 14, 2010 #3 Posted April 14, 2010 Most all GPS units will give elevation. You may need to go through the display menu and choose the elevation option.
slick97spirit Posted April 14, 2010 #4 Posted April 14, 2010 I have a 780 and to find elevation, I go to settings, then "Where Am I Now" selection. It displays elevation as well as a few other things.
autopilot Posted April 14, 2010 #5 Posted April 14, 2010 I have a C580 and I've never seen anything that remotely appears to give elevational data. It may be there if the GPS mode is changed from "normal", but to my knowlege, elevations are not there anywhere. Doesn't mean they aren't..I just not aware of any.
