SilvrT Posted April 8, 2010 #26 Posted April 8, 2010 They only turn off automatically if you turn them on above a certain speed. Otherwise, they are manual. did I miss something? You're referring to the turn signals on our RSV's ??

Brian heck Brain... that's because your bike is so old .... self-cancelling signals weren't even in comic books yet. :rasberry:
massey130 Posted April 8, 2010 #29 Posted April 8, 2010 i can't figure out what makes my 04 RSV blinkers self cancel. sometimes they self cancel and sometimes they don't. If it is distance based, my scooter is really messed up cause i turn on blinkers about the same distance all the time and there is not much effect on operation. there are exceptions to my stop and then turn distance, but we all know that. for the most part is what i am referring to. if it is speed based, that makes sense to me as I make quick stops, slow long stops and the stops in between. the blinker goes on at any time at any of those speeds. then after the turn, sometimes self cancel and sometimes manual. I just make it a point to check them after a turn when i am safe to look at the dash. I have no problem seeing them in the daylight. they are sometimes a bit tough to see. I have become accustomed to this routine so it is no problem. lane changes are all manual. i do try to signal so traffic has time to see as long as they are watching. I have begun using hand signal more lately and i get a better response from traffic.
Freebird Posted April 8, 2010 #30 Posted April 8, 2010 did I miss something? You're referring to the turn signals on our RSV's ?? Yes I am. I may be wrong though. That is the way that mine seem to work and I thought I had read the specifics somewhere in the manual but I search both the owners manual and the service manual last night after posting this and can't find anything. Maybe I imagined it.

Maybe I imagined it. That's what had me wondering coz mine self-cancel regardless of what the speed seems to be when I turn them on. Unless, of course, that speed that you refer to is very low...like almost stopped. I'll have to experiment with this coz now I'm curious.
