Brenda H Posted April 7, 2010 #1 Posted April 7, 2010 I've been offered an '08 RSV. I WANT IT! Outside of getting the financing for my new toy [always fun], I'm looking at what other stuff I'm going to need for it. Top of the list is a helmet/headset set up so I can use the cb/cassette deck. 650 Customs don't come with these lil goodies. I have not gotten anything of the kind installed on my Wee Beastie as yet so I don't have any of the gear needed for this. All of my research into RSV's has been into the bike itself and not the add ons/oem equipment like the radio/cb systems. I don't know if the current owner's gear will fit me [providing he'll sell it] so I'm looking at what I need to get for it. Oh Fun! Any help, info, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated. I will be figuring out a way to install a Sirius Sat Radio on the bike and adding that to the sound system. Normally I will ride with either a full or flip face helmet but that might change when I'm finally behind a full fairing/windshield. But I won't be riding in anything less than a 3/4. Here's hoping everything works out and I'll have my new wheels in time for my so-called vacation this summer!

Guest scarylarry Posted April 7, 2010 #3 Posted April 7, 2010 When I was looking at the 09's everyone I seen here in Nashville had a 6 CD changer in the left saddle bag, I don't know if the 08's had them or not.. I got a set of headsets off, you will need to buy the cable for the venture. Or with mine you did, I'm please with mine I will look at the Edset sometime but right now didn't want to fork the money out, also while you are there look at their helmets they seem to be line. As far a XM radio I don't know I'm to cheap to pay for radio...LOL http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_list.php?inc=gl1800&categoryid=224
Tom Posted April 7, 2010 #4 Posted April 7, 2010 Brenda,I dont know if interested but in the classifieds I have a Brand New Full face helmet,(Large,Black) Nolan NCOM with factory installed J&M ELITE headsets for sale..never been used. It is a full helmet but wife cant use because it hurts her neck where she has had numerous surgeries. You can buy the cheaper version for about 67$$ and put in your helmet though. If you decide on one like I have you will need the lower Z cable, thats all.I went to the Elites because of the better sound quality and volume is much better. Tom
LilBeaver Posted April 7, 2010 #5 Posted April 7, 2010 Just in case you didn't know - you only need the headsets to talk on the CB. You can listen to everything else through the speakers. The RSV will certainly be different than your 650!! :happy65:

Brenda H Posted April 8, 2010 Author #8 Posted April 8, 2010 I'd prefer to listen to the radio thru helmet speakers. I have never ridden a bike with front mount speakers so I have no real idea on how well they work or how clearly you can hear them. But I have a case of tinnitus and believe me, hearing anything with that can be fun at times. Add in that one of my "hobbies" is listening to audio books [great for road trips!], being able to hear something clearly is almost a requirement. I've always ridden with headphones and was planning on mounting the basic helmet speaker set that Chatterbox has so that I could listen to a radio on my 650. Squidley was kind enough to wire a 12v powerpoint into the bike so I now have a power source for the darn thing. Since I may need to mount something else there [hopefully!], that maybe on hold for the moment, providing I can find a system for flip face helmets as I currently wear a HJC SyMaxII. It looks like I've got more research to do. I've got to find, sooner or later, the right set up for the bike. I'm trying to decide if I should get a set for rider/passenger or just for myself since as things stand now, I'll be the only person riding the bike. The hubby at present is not a rider and I'm going to have enough "fun" supporting an 800 lb bike without adding his chubby hide to it. The problem with the rider/passenger set up is that as I have no one person riding pillon with me, I won't be able to have a particular size helmet available for that person's use. Questions questions questions! OH FUN!! Just in case you didn't know - you only need the headsets to talk on the CB. You can listen to everything else through the speakers. The RSV will certainly be different than your 650!!
