oil question

Can anyone tell me if 89 vr holds 4.5 or 5 Quarts of oil when changing oil & filter. thanks.

I am not sure how much your bike holds. do you have the owner manual?

I buy it in a gallon jug and there is some left over after an oil and filter change. Since a gallon = 4 quarts I put it at 3.X quarts.

Just opened the owners manual. It says 4 quarts for oil and filter change. It's wrong, that is too much. You need to buy 4 quarts but you won't put all of the last one in.

ya, i just changed mine a couple weeks ago, 'bout three and a half.

I changed the oil in my 86 MKII a few months ago and it held 3 1/2. After riding it for a while it wanted the other 1/2 qt. Not sure why, it's not burning oil and it's not leaking anywhere.

3 1/2 with the filter changed, adjust so the level is mid window, too high and you can puke it out into the breather box.

Put in 3 quarts and then top it off to the middle of the sight glass. Works every time....
