Owen Posted April 5, 2010 #1 Posted April 5, 2010 (edited) With the upcoming MS150 2010 in late April, I thought I would post this link to last years event from the eyes of the Motorcycle Marshals. There are about 90 Motorcycle Marshals working this worth wild event. Most are ham radio ops and many are EMTs/medical types. It is a real work out for the motorcycles and marshals alike. Enjoy the video. There are several pages of still photos on the left side of the page also. Edited April 5, 2010 by Owen
utadventure Posted April 5, 2010 #2 Posted April 5, 2010 Thanks to the marshalls and riders that help make this event possible. Our 20 year old son was diagnosed with MS just about a year and a half ago and funds raised go to a great cause. Dave:clap2:
Owen Posted April 22, 2010 Author #3 Posted April 22, 2010 So the 2010 Houston/Austin BP MS150 is now in the history books. It was a great success. 13,000 bicycle riders covered the 158 miles over two days. Here are some photos of the motorcycles used by the marshals in support of the ride participants. My travels covered 631 miles over the weekend, much of it slow speed around 20 - 40 mph. PHOTOS. :biker:
86er Posted April 22, 2010 #4 Posted April 22, 2010 That is pretty cool. I once rode in a triathlon. But I carried a judge (as a few other bikes did) to make sure that the riders weren't cheating by drafting too close, passing where they weren't supposed too, etc. It was fun, and you are right, lots of slow speed stuff.
KenP Posted April 23, 2010 #5 Posted April 23, 2010 I rode in 3 MS150 events starting in 2007 as a cyclist, my last one being in 2009. I just hit 50 and it simply took too many Motrin to get rid of the soreness after 150 miles! The volunteer motorcycle riders and their support group were "top shelf" and were greatly appreciated for not only keeping the cyclists safe, but there to help out with any maintenance or first aid issues. Tippin' my hat to you all who take time out of your personal lives to give back...
