mmkleine Posted April 5, 2010 #1 Posted April 5, 2010 Anyone know if they make a after market kickstand yet for a lowered 2006 RSTD?
Condor Posted April 5, 2010 #2 Posted April 5, 2010 Anyone know if they make a after market kickstand yet for a lowered 2006 RSTD? Never read about one here. Might be something that one of our 'welders' might be able to do on an exchange basis??? Cut an inch or two out of the shaft below the loop and reweld, grind smoothe, and rechrome or let the owner deal with the chroming....
cb1313 Posted April 6, 2010 #3 Posted April 6, 2010 I have just read that a 1996-2001 Royal Star stand is 2 inches shorter than a stock Venture stand and is a stock install.. I have lowered my 2005 front and rear. I am going to order a R/S stand today. Cb
cb1313 Posted April 6, 2010 #4 Posted April 6, 2010 I just checked a price for the stand on the net. $193.00.... maybe I'll try something else !!! Cb
rumboogy Posted April 6, 2010 #5 Posted April 6, 2010 You might try ebay....Pinwall has almost anything on eBay you can think of... Yeah, the NEW RSV kickstand is over $200...It must be the chrome plated GOLD bar.
wrongway2 Posted April 8, 2010 #6 Posted April 8, 2010 Here you go: http://www.partforyamaha.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/Yamaha.aspx kickstand part number is 4NK-27311-00-00 $106.75 I also ordered a new spring simply because the one in the picture looked shorter than the stock spring (I'm sure it's the same though). Spring is 90506-29358-00 and is $7.26.
cb1313 Posted April 9, 2010 #7 Posted April 9, 2010 PLEASE send me a message when you find out if it works or not work ! I do not read all the posts and I do not want to miss what you find out. I have already marked this post but sometimes I delete them before I read them. thanks Cb
wrongway2 Posted April 9, 2010 #8 Posted April 9, 2010 I'll let you know as soon as I get it on the bike CB.
Jerry W Posted April 9, 2010 #9 Posted April 9, 2010 Never read about one here. Might be something that one of our 'welders' might be able to do on an exchange basis??? Cut an inch or two out of the shaft below the loop and reweld, grind smoothe, and rechrome or let the owner deal with the chroming.... Weld it back with stainless rod, you won't have to rechrome. The chrome is tough enough on these kickstands that it does not pop off when hot. Just dress it with a dremel and polish it a little and you are good to go.
wrongway2 Posted April 23, 2010 #10 Posted April 23, 2010 I received the kickstand that I mentioned earlier in the thread. It's now on the bike and the lean angle is perfect. No more worrying about it being too upright. The only thing is that with the early Royal Star kickstand, the mounting hole is smaller so the dealer had to drill out the hole to get the stock bolt through it. Also, as mentioned earlier, I ordered the new spring and it was required. I'm now a happy camper.
Rickster Posted April 23, 2010 #11 Posted April 23, 2010 Sounds great I will need to do the same thing, how much different is the hole for the bolt??
wrongway2 Posted April 23, 2010 #12 Posted April 23, 2010 I never thought to ask what size bit they used but the shorter kickstand hole is a fair bit smaller than our stock on. there was still lots of metal left after enlarging the hole so they said no worries about strength.
DCSC Posted June 7, 2010 #14 Posted June 7, 2010 I have a almost new kickstand that came off a 08RSTD.
