I was buttoning up the fairing after several weekends of maintenance and mods and noticed something on the bottom of my passing lamp bracket. There are 2 little squares welded onto the bar that appear to have tapped holes in the bottom of them.

This might be a nice place to add an aux light mounting bracket. If no one knows what I am talking about, I will post a picture.

Thoughts?

.... Is she back on the road??

I actually had a bunch of mine apart this weekend.

I bought a WOLO Bad Boys air horn at FF so not chromed. Didn't like the looks of it in place of the stock horn, so I started looking everywhere else. If I got rid of the AIS there would have been a spot in front of the engine next to the oil filter, and in the back right next to the shock. ( I later found out both spots have been used by others here). I just didn't want to pull that stuff off while still under warranty.

Settled for inside the fairing next to the radio. While I was in there, I also ran the heated grip wires in there, and the wiring for the GPS and XM radio.

One problem, the XM radio antenna is on top of the factory radio as others have done here. I lose signal when going North, so I'll have to go back in and find a better spot for that thing. Might just have to put it back on top of the handlebar behind my cup holder. It worked there for my FL trip. Looks like I'll be cuttin' and redoing the zip ties for the fourth time.

Not quite yet. Everything is done but I am thoroughly cleaning everything before it gets put back on. All that is left are the saddle bags and reinstalling the battery. Hope to get that done this evening.

Those two little holes are for the wind deflectors, one on each side.

Thank you. I don't have those, hence not knowing what the holes were for.

However, that does give me some ideas for a lighting bracket. Hmmmmm...

Living in Wisconson with all that cold up there im sure those fork deflectors would warm your legs up better than extra lights......:smile5:

However, with all the forest rats we have up here, the extra lights will keep the rest of me safer. I just put an extra set of knee pads in my riding pants when the weather gets too cold. This seems to be enough to keep them warm.

Got it completed last night and tried to start it up. I was really worried cause it didn't even hit. Then - Dohhh! - I recalled having to turn on the petcock so gas would get into the carbs.

Vroomm. Started right up. It doesn't idle very well, but I haven't made any carb adjustments. Carbtune and possible Colortune will be done this week. Then just some minor cleaning up on the engine chrome, a little wax on the trunk, front fender, and tank, and I will be riding.
