Bluetooth questions

I'm as dumb as a brick when it comes to anything bluetooth. Here's what I'm thinking about doing, and wanted to ask for input on whether it's even possible. I just picked up a Garmin Streetpilot c550 with bluetooth capabilities. It also has the MP3 player. What I wonder is... can I get the Garmin, and a helmet bluetooth head set, and my bluetooth cell phone to interphase with each other? The Garmin addresses the ability to link to the cell phone, but can the helmet set send and receive audio and be the primary controll???????? Anyone ever done this type of set up? I like the Garmin as it has the same sunlight screen as the Zumo550. It is smaller but easier to find a place on a crowded 1stGen dash. Any thoughts would be appreciated....

I use a zumo 550, bluetooth cell phone (iphone) and cardo scala Q2 headset. Plug the 550 audio output into the aux input on the venture. Now you can hear you driving instructions and mp3 music via the speakers. Pair the headset and phone to the 550. Now you have cell phone connection for calls. The 550 allows setting the music/directions to the speakers or headset separately from the phone audio. You can also adjust the music audio level separately. The down side is you do not have a mic connection to the CB. Does this help?

well, i'm not sure about condor, but i want to route the bluetooth directions and/or audio to a headset, and have the phone route to the same headset.

So far what I'm getting with just the GPS and Phone blue'd, the GPS is controlling everything. Even when I answer the phone manually it just triggers the GPS into phone mode, and I still have to use the GPS for conversation. Not a bad thing, but now I'm wondering is when I have a headset installed will the GPS still run the show or be a slave to the headset?? I don't want to go shell out a couple of 'C' notes to find out it can't be done. Maybe I should call Garmin.???

ya, i'm in the same boat. i've got the nuvi 765 and i would really like to get a headset for my helmet, but i don't wanna buy one and find out it doesn't work right.

You can do just that... everything to the headset or just the phone...

The GPS is controller. The phone connects to it. The headset connects to it. The GPS handles the audio selection. That being said, if you pick up your phone and dial a number you can select the audio source from the phone ie: phone, gps, speaker. If you answer the phone call directly from the phone you simply select 'phone' as your audio source. This is done on the phone when you answer. You can also initiate a phone call from the gps. It will display your phone book, recent calls, favorites or a dialing keypad.

Yep, I just tried to contact Garmin Support to ask if it could be done with the Streetpilot c550. The phone wait was aprox 35 minutes. Not for this boy.... Then I figured I'd email them. Their email form is a joke. I can't even figure out what the 'H' they are talking about in the drop down menu's. The c550 does have a wired audio out and a remote mic plug, but I think to get them to work with a blue it would need one of those bluetooth adapters??? I'm off to something else.

But can you hold a phone conversation using the headset??? I just read the bluetooth options in detail, and they just talk about the phone...nothing else.??

On the zumo 550 yes, you use the headset to hold the phone conversation. That is the default configuration. I don't know about your "c550" ... sorry.

Get the Buddy Rich cable. I have the Garmin 765T and the cable works just great for me. It plugs inside the faring into the audio cables and into the microphone port in the Garmin. I used an Aux splitter from radio shack also in the faring that plugs into the Garmin headphone jack. I have AUX set on the bike and can hear the music from the MP3 player as well as the directions from the Garmin. The music stops as the Garmin gives directions. I paired my cell phone up with the Garmin so when a call comes in I just have to touch the screen to answer the call all through my helmet headset.
