Venturous Randy Posted April 1, 2010 #1 Posted April 1, 2010 As we are getting ready to go into what is a three day weekend for some of us( I get Good Friday off), along with the temperatures looking at being in the mid to lower 80's for Friday and Saturday, I know there are going to be a bunch of us out there. I know that for me, this is the weekend that I have been living for after the most miserable winter I can remember in a long time. The really sad part about this is it is almost like clockwork in our area, there will be a motorcycle related incident. It will either be a cage/bike, an inexperenced new rider, someone pushing it too hard for the conditions or alcohol related. This will be especially true for a weekend like this. So, I am saying this to me, just like the rest of you, be careful out there. RandyA
Cougar Posted April 1, 2010 #2 Posted April 1, 2010 AND STILL .. SAND, SAND and MORE SAND.. out there.! BE SAFE...
Sleeperhawk Posted April 1, 2010 #3 Posted April 1, 2010 We already have 17 motorcycle deaths, plus many more injured this short year already. So be careful this weekend.
Flyinfool Posted April 1, 2010 #4 Posted April 1, 2010 Especially up here where we have a real winter, the cages have forgotten that we exist. They have not seen a bike for the last 6 months. I finally got my bike running and have ridden to work the last 3 days and have had to take evasive action at least twice each day due to cages pulling out from stop signs in front of me, and I am riding with my high beam on during daylight hours. Two of them, I could see them turn their head to look my way and yet still did not see me. I think a white strobe may be in order.

I have run a strobe in my headlight for about 13 years and about 100,000 miles. So far, so good, but even with the strobe, it has been the loud airhorns that have saved my butt on a few occasions. I want to be nice here, but if a person rides a mororcycle and does not have loud horns on their bike, they are stupid. Not to say that my loud airhorns will always save me, but I know that so far I have had about a half dozen encounters that the other people were absolutely commited to pull into me and I would NOT have been able to miss them. Yammer Dan Posted April 1, 2010 #6 Posted April 1, 2010 DIRTY ROADS!!! Trash and sand from winter and new potholes from the snowplows.
SilvrT Posted April 1, 2010 #7 Posted April 1, 2010 Should be "incident-free" around here... doesn't look like the weather will be too favourable for riding. BTW... most get 3 days off this long weekend ... some, like me, get FOUR but it really sukz when ya can't go ridin
