Carb Question

It appears that at least one of the rubber boots the carbs sit on is cracked. Another one don't look to good.

My question is where is the best place price wise to buy these things. If I got to take the carbs off again I'm going to replace them all. This is about four times in the last three years I've taken them off so I'm getting a little tired of this.

I think some of you have repaired them but I think I just want to replace them.

that is a rubber coating and probably doesn`t go all the way through.... I wouldn`t sweat it, but lets hear from the pros and see what they say..

Coated mine with NAPA Plasti Dip and they have been good to go.

dont have any advice for you ,sorry to piggyback on your thread. I need to see if anyone

knows where I can get a pair of chrome carb covers for my 99 venture. Didnt know that yamaha disc. these from their line.

Try spraying carb cleaner at the cracks. If the engine doesn't change then its not all the way thru. Which I doubt cause I'm pretty sure there's a metal sleeve inside the rubber.

The lower Carb. Boots have an Aluminum flange on the bottom (intake) end but are rubber for the rest of the boot. If you can Verify this part number: 4NK-13586-00-00 I can order those lower Carb. Boots for $45.32 each. $8.00 to ship. (If you have a different part number, let me know what it is) Hope this helps,

I agree with Buddyrich....if you spray the rubber boots while engine is running, if there is a leak, the engine speed will fluctuate..

There was gas leaking out the seam in the boot and onto the engine, that's what got my attention to start with. I suppose it could be leaking from the Carb and running down the boot, hard to tell.

I just started the bike for the first time this season and it's doing a lot of popping besides the gas leak. Didn't think about spraying starting fluid on it to see if it is in fact cracked.

After I sit here for a few minutes thinking about the boots, it makes no sense that the boots would be leaking gas "out". Should be all vacuum inside the boot. Thanks Buddy us ole guys need all the help we can get.

Must have something going on at the Carburetor to cause the gas to leak down across the boots and onto the engine. Doesn't seem to be a stuck float as there's not much gas leaking, just enough to make a mess. I know, I know....Seafoam.

Cracks on the intake manifolds are very common, but I don't remember hearing of any that truly proved bad. Like others have said, spray carb cleaner or WD-40 all over the manifolds while the bike is running - if there is a vacuum leak, the engine WILL detect it!

I didn't say it!! But did you have any in it when you put it away? Sta-Built works good for storage but I like Sea-Foam.

HA! The only thing I do for Winter storage is pull the snowblower (I know you guys down south don't know what that is) pull the snowblower out of the back of the garage and put the Venture in it's place, sometimes I even take the key out of the Venture. I know it's not the right thing to do but that's just me.
