Hi everyone: Instead of writing to each one of you, I figure all of you will find this.

I have been to Sumter, South Carolina, to a Yamaha Dealer called Extreme Motor Sports. I wish to say, these are some good everyday folks. I was greeted with a handshake and the service manger listened carefully to me, introduced me to several people, they head mechanic took Cricket for a spin. While they were out with my Bike I went into the front of the shop and everyone was courteous, just plain nice. Business is clean, shop is clean , organized and very professional. So if you have a situation with a Yamaha.......you sure could do worse than visit this dealer, this is a good one. A keeper.

So yes Cricket was diagnosed with the perpetual clutch basket situation. I was told again that the I basket will not ever completely remove the chirp, but those they have done, it has been a help and so far everyone has been happy with the conversion.

So my genuine I basket will be ordered today........I will be called when it is in and we can set up a time to conduct the transfer. So until this time.......I will really have no comment until the final result is realized.

I wish to also say......the dealer has bent over backward to help me, he told me as I have to ride the bike over.....it can most likely be handled in one day........so I can arrive.......my wife or someone can pick me up, we can run around Sumter and go shopping, eat out.....whatever......and go home the same day. That is service folks, with a smile. What a relief.........I was about to totally give up on dealers.

Will keep you posted.....this may take awhile......but that is cool, Cricket runs strong and true, she is past the break in....hit the interstate this morning and wound her up coming off the entrance ramp........I am quite sure no 1st Gen can ever catch her. :stirthepot::stirthepot:

I'm surprised that an 07 wouldn't already have the updated (I) clutch basket.
One would sure think so huh? Would save a lot of hassle........have them installed before the sale. But I think I have the correct answer for the reason why......some bikes function fine with the standard basket.........some do not........if you lined up ten of them off the assembly line.....might have problems with some, not with others.......sometimes the I basket does not cure anything and in fact is louder than the factory basket........so sometimes it takes two or three tries to get it right.........but Yamaha will only do it once under warranty...so I think there are just a whole lot of variables. I saw a nice maroon colored one sitting in the showroom.....it is a 2008........pretty bike. Do not know about the 2008 either, could be,,,,,could not be, bet tis the same, looks identical, down to the last screw. Kit
