Does anyone know if you can install an windshield bag on a Yamaha midnight Venture ... or is the space between the dashboard and the Windshield to small.

I like to have something like this .

I have the J&M Windshield bag on my '06 RSV. Though made for the Harley, it's been firmly attached for almost 3,000 miles so far. Here it is on the J&M website: http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp?PF=6&ProductID=HDCH-990

The prefab hole does not line up with any screws on the RSV, but the tail is long and thick enough to get a good solid mount with the pressure from tightening up the windshield mounting screws. It's a good quality bag and is a very handy accessory.

Do you have a pic of it on the bike?

I bought the Carolina Leather Works bags and mounted them on the 06 RSV. Wound up taking them back off again, as I found them to sit up too high and blocked a lot of my vision (I'm vertically challenged at 5' 7" - on a good day).

Just something to think about.

Cheers,

Not the best pics -- just took them w/my cell phone. Let me know if you need better/bigger pics and I'll get some shots w/the digital camera.

Herman,

Here is a photo of the J&M bags installed on my bike. The mounting tab is too short to mount between the windshield and the fairing for support. The back of the so called leather looked like a cheap card board from the front of the windshield so I painted the lower part of the inside of the shield with Walmart fusion black paint, used industrial strength Velcro 1 1/4 in. and secured it to the windshield with the Velcro. It looks pretty cheap but, I bought the bags for $18 and they do serve the purpose. Here is a photo of what they look like on the bike!

I went with a Joe Rocket tank bag...doesn't block vision and it holds a lot of stuff.

That is what I got too, A Joe Rocket Manta tank bag.. You've got yours on backward..:detective:

I put a Carolina Leatherworks bag on my ride. It does block a little bit of the view but the storage room is worth it.

Before I installed the bag I put a peice of felt on the dashboard to prevent it from getting scuffed up,

Very observant, Al...there is a reason for my madness though...its MUCH easier to retrieve items with the bag upside down while moving, ie. gum, handkerchief, gun...err, strike that last one, heh heh , due to the way it zips up...try it, ya might do the same!!

Oh, also, with it upside down, the bottom side magnet makes a mighty nice shield for the gas cap...I've nearly went blind from the suns reflection...but not anymore. Alex
