Riding with a couple of guys today and both of them mentioned that they thought I must be running rich since they could smell a strong fume of gas as we ran along. Thought some of you might have some insight on this. Carb sync at Vogel last year and Seafoam once this year. I also have made sure the airboxes are seated properly on the carbs.

Would carb. float levels due it or just air mixture?

All thought would be helpful as always.

Thanks

Float levels. and like Squeeze said, if you didnt ride much during the winter, and kept starting it up and letting

the bike idle a bunch of times you most likely fouled some of the plugs.

my 2 cents

Make sure you didn't loose Spark at one Cylinder.

Ya, what he said. Are you running on all 4. I lost a coil a few days ago, and it obviously smelled rich, and ran noticably rough.

Not running rough but since it is raining here today I will check the plugs. I will also check the spark at each plug and wire.

Thanks

When I say rough, I noticed it right away. Something not quite right in the sound and throttle response (like it was being held back a little).

However, I've heard of others on here that were running on 3 for a long time and didn't realize it. It'll still run down the freeway fairly well on 3.

Fire it up and carefully check the temp on each exhaust pipe. If you've got a dead one, you can hold you fingers on it after the bike is warmed up.

A thermometer might be safer though.

Might want to check for plugged up air filters, they'll make it rich all around.

P.S. bring that baby up here. We'll get her running great, and I'll ride with ya to add the other 2 states your missing in this area

Yup, bring it on up. Scotter Bob and I will get you set up. By the time you get here I will know how to do the float level adjustment (took the carbs out today). We can burn a weekend and get those other states filles in.
