StarRider07 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Has anyone changed their speakers? I am sure a lot of you have. I am thinking of replacing the speakers with decent 2 way speakers for better highs and midrange. Damn, no place for a sub! Has anyone ever added an amplifier? I am thinking of a small sized 100 watt amp (4 x 25). Is there a decent quality small compact sized amp that can be used on the Venture? Would it be relatively easy to hook up? Looking forward to your replies. Greg

I am assuming with an amp like this and better speakers, I will be able to hear music a lot better on the highway. Is it really worth the money / effort? Later, Greg

Later, Greg Ive got theese 105 watt peak speakers http://www.crutchfield.com/S-u9ySPYDBbI8/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=51200&tab=essential_info&i=107DB400 along with a 200 watt marine stereo. No trouvle hearing the tunes at any speed. Of course i dont have loud pipe on my ride. id like to add 2 more speaker in the rear when i have time. the 2nd gens have rear speakers right?
Freebird Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 The amp and speakers help but still not as much as I would like. We REALLY need a subwoofer to get more bass.

Mikealiasmike Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 First off I hate to buy anything from china these days. Seems most products just don't hold up but went digging on ebay and I found this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130161077898 Might just be the answer to speakers and some bass with subwoofer. Sent question to him/her to see if subwoofer is also waterproof. I'll let you know what I find out. Ride safe, God Bless. Mike

These are the ones I happen to purchase as well. They sound excellent! And they are marine grade, so they are weatherproof.

Greg There is a member, can't remember who right now, who has a picture in their gallery of a subwoofer in the trunk of his 2nd gen. Takes up all the space in the trunk though. Of course, probably rattles ever screw, in the trunk, loose. Better use red loc-tite if you're gonna put it there.
Christo Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Will these fit front and rear???? Yes siree .

I think with good quality 2 way speakers and a small amp the sound should be way better than stock and louder than stock for highway listening. I am going to make sure that the 2 way speakers have a built in crossover to separate the highs so only the highs hit the tweeter. Good quality speakers will also have a larger magnet. Greg
Freebird Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Watch out for those larger magnets. Fine for the front but the first that I tried for the rear were a set of Alpines. The pods/armrests would not go together because the magnets were too large.

bongobobny Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I have to agree that with more efficient speakers there is a definate need for better bass. Physics is physics and to get good bas you have to move a large volume of air, which ain't gonna happen with 4" speakers. The problem being with updated speakers you get enhanced highs but no bottom end to go with it. Yes, I have contemplated down firing a woofer or two inside the seat...
