WOW, I am even more impressed

Rode the bike into work tonight for the first time with the Avon Tires and the lowering kit removed.......all I gotta say is WOW! The bike rode good before, but the tires are unbelieveable! Well worth the money. I cruised I-95 at about 75 and felt like I was on air. Can't wait until I get off in the morning so I can ride home.

Going on a trip next week to the mountains. I plan to put 300-400 on this week driving to work to get them good and ready. Know of anything else I need to do with them?

All my new ones are sanded. Then I can lean all I want, though I too am cautious for the first tank full still.

You sand them on the side to rough them up? What grade sand paper?

Yeh keep a close eye on the sidewalls for cracking. avons have an issue for that. If I am not mistaken it mostly the ones with the 05/08 date stamp on them

Watch that rear tire closely!

 

It's way more than just 05/08. I'm pulling a set of Avons off because of rear sidewall cracking. The front did fine, and lasted through three rears (sort of). In fact, it's still good.

 

This rear is low mileage, but has cracks. It replaced a low mileage rear that cracked badly. The first rear had sidewall cracks I didn't notice until I'd pretty much run out the tread.

 

I didn't do any of the things they say not to do. I keep them properly inflated by Avon's standards. During any off periods longer than a week the bike sets elevated on a CarbonOne stand.

 

I like the handling, but I'm done with 'em. I just can't trust them because of the cracks. I'm moving to Dunlop E3s to see how they do.
