REDRIDER52 Posted March 11, 2010 #1 Posted March 11, 2010 To all that use syn oil have you ever changed back to dino oil I have been using Amsoil syn for several years and was think about changing to Rottela dino oil will this cause problems doing this Amsoil getting a little high on cost
Squidley Posted March 11, 2010 #2 Posted March 11, 2010 Your not going to hurt anything, I did the same thing on one of my 1st gens after I tried syn and it leaked out the gaskets after cleaning all the sludge out of them switch it over, you'll be fine.
FreezyRider Posted March 11, 2010 #3 Posted March 11, 2010 Or, if you want to stay with Syn but don't like the Amsoil prices, you might try the Rotella 5w-40 Syn (in the blue jug). It's about $20 per gallon at WalMart. Works great for me.
KiteSquid Posted March 11, 2010 #4 Posted March 11, 2010 Why not go to Rotella T6 full Synthetic???? Click HERE to go to Shell's website. BTW Shell Rotella T6 is now JASCO MA certified!!!!!!!!! so you can use it in your bike and meet all warranty requirements.
Oldslow Posted March 11, 2010 #5 Posted March 11, 2010 I just did my oil with the T6 synthetic...I have no reservations! Guys here in my neck of the woods who run a lot of diesel trucks have taken to oil analysis and changing filters only till the oil starts to show actual wear. This synthetic oil can go a long way...

hig4s Posted May 3, 2010 #8 Posted May 3, 2010 I use Mobil 1 on my bike and Mobil 1 Or Syntec in my Jeep and my wife's Element. I switched to Rotella synth in my Jeep but the gas mileage went down so I switched back.
KiteSquid Posted May 4, 2010 #9 Posted May 4, 2010 Hey I have 96 Royal Star (8800 mi) and i think to switch to rotella T6 your advice. Thanks AND the Rotella T6 is JASCO MA certified, so it meets Yamaha's warranty requirements.
buddy Posted May 4, 2010 #10 Posted May 4, 2010 Rotella T 15w40 shifts fine, but seems my whine is louder now? will switch to T 6 next time and see how it does?
hunter 1500 Posted May 4, 2010 #11 Posted May 4, 2010 Rotella T 15w40 shifts fine, but seems my whine is louder now? will switch to T 6 next time and see how it does? Mine had what ever oil the dealer uses when they change it at 600 miles and I just did my first oil change and went with the Rotella T and it seems to be quieter. I used it in my old bike (03 Suzuki LC1500) for 54k and never had an issue with it and the clutch worked fine still.
The Black Pearl Posted May 4, 2010 #12 Posted May 4, 2010 I switched to the rotella t6 this spring and its smoother, shifts like butter and the whine isnt gone but quieter on mine, just my couple pennys worth
raivovam Posted May 5, 2010 #14 Posted May 5, 2010 thanks for advice! change a oil tomorrow only I think 5w40 not to thin? I see have its work tomorrow
casabroker Posted May 17, 2010 #15 Posted May 17, 2010 Don't forget how long amsoil goes. if you changing every 3 k or so your wasting money. Kregg
