Once you hit I-70 in Utah, hang in there till you get to Grand Junction.

At Grand Junction, the Colorado National Monument cannot be missed!!! One of the best kept secrets of the state.

After seeing the Colorado National Monument, drop south on 50 to Montrose. Eight miles east of Montrose is the entrance to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Well worth the side trip.

Back track to Montrose (wave at my son as you go through) to 550 South. Great ride through the mountains into Durango.

IF ... we do make this trip, we will be leaving Vancouver, BC on Sep 4th, returning at home on Sep 20, back to work on the 21st.

Initial plan is to visit the Grand Canyon and other "touristy" places along the way, maybe Las Vegas too, prior to Durango on the 13th. It currently hinges on whether or not Nina can get the time off work.

The Durango Round-Up has been canceled. See the post in the Rally forum.....

Despite the rally being canceled, Rick if you two decide you still want to make the tirp - or some variation on, I'd be interested in putting some miles on with you while you are in the Southern states :thumbsup2:

That would be cool Rick; however, Nina & I had already decided we weren't going to be able to make this trip ... and I just now found out about the rally being cancelled.

We decided mostly due to the cost ... other things have recently come up and it just didn't fit into our budget anymore so we've now planned a trip out to Saskatchewan, camping along the way with our "new" trailer in tow, then returning via some route in the US...all in the same time of year. We chose Sask because Nina's mom lives out there...and of course, we'll probably stop in and visit Brian (friesman1).
