Had a young service tech at a local shop tell me last year that my bike didn't sound right for a V-twin. I reached down and pulled off two plug wires and restarted the bike and asked.."How's that?"

...

Thanks, got a good Laugh out of that :crackup::crackup::crackup:

i was riding saturday, finally got some good weather.i stopped by the bike shop in my town,i was curious about gas mileage on my 83 venture.i have been reading post about how many miles that riders get on a tank of gas.it varies from 35-47 or so.i told the guy about it he laughed at me.he said the only way those bikes can get that kind of mileage if they pushed them.he said that a bike has to be 250 cc or smaller to get that kind of mileage. he said that i was looking at about 20-25. so whats the deal? so who is blowing smoke? i guess i do about 140 or so

Obviously this guy don't know anything about the ventures. I would somehow find another mechanic. Like someone else said just post on this forum about syncing the carbs and someone will help you. I'm on my 4th venture and they all have averaged around 40 mpg. Actually after following the advice of Vgoose my current venture gets around 43/44 mpg.

Good luck

Do not listen to this person.

Do not let him touch your bike.

Go far away from his shop.

Never go close to that shop again.

His laughter betrays his foolishness.

His brain is burned out

That is why he blows smoke.

Let this be a lesson and learn from it.

i just stopped by didnt get any work done.he also told me to sync the carbs $130-190. i live in forney tx so there is not much here.i dont know anyone so i just read the posts and try somethings on my own that i can do myself.

Another example of his burned out brain.

He has no wholesome thoughts.

Out of the ashes in his skull emeges only thoughts of dollars

Dollars he can take from you to make him rich and you poor.

Kid was stunned......running with no plug wires!! This is why I do my own work.

And I get at least 35 mpg around town and 40+ on the highway.

I ran into a guy with an 1800 Goldwing trike at a bike show. He said he got around 40mpg with it. He also said he got around 60mpg before he triked it out.

There was also another MKI there.

My 84 blond got "Best in Show" that year. These babies never go out of style!
