silver99 Posted March 10, 2010 #1 Posted March 10, 2010 Well here goes,This is my first attempt at this. I,ve got a 99RSV 27,000 miles my c/c will come on and give you all three lights but after that the on light stays on but will not even attempt to come on or set. Is there another fuse or could one of my brake or clutch or rear brake switch be bad how could i check it? Any help or info would be super appreciated Thanks
dingy Posted March 10, 2010 #2 Posted March 10, 2010 Attached is a partial wiring diagram showing just the cruise control related circuits. Complete wiring diagrams are located at: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42357 Gary
Freebird Posted March 10, 2010 #3 Posted March 10, 2010 Well...you posted this in the computer help section so you may not get as many responses as you normally would. This section is actually for people needing help with their computers and/or using this website. I am going to move this to the "Second Gen Tech Talk" area for you. Now, the first thing I would ask is have you..or anybody else...changed or otherwise messed with your throttle cables?
BMW Posted March 10, 2010 #4 Posted March 10, 2010 Not sure if your aware of this or not. I think you have to at least be in 3rd gear for it to engage.
wes0778 Posted March 10, 2010 #5 Posted March 10, 2010 Not sure if your aware of this or not. I think you have to at least be in 3rd gear for it to engage. It's 4th gear for my '99
Freebird Posted March 10, 2010 #6 Posted March 10, 2010 Yes, the cruise should only work in 4th and 5th gears though mine only works in 5th gear for some reason. I have to look at that some day and try to figure out why that is but to be honest, I never use it in 4th anyway so haven't worry too much about it.
Squidley Posted March 10, 2010 #8 Posted March 10, 2010 Another thing to check is both the front brake lever and the clutch lever. They both have microswitches that if the levers are loose a bit will dis engage or not engage at all. Might want to look at cleaning them out and see if tha makes a difference.

Seaking Posted March 10, 2010 #11 Posted March 10, 2010 There is a 5th gear on this thing? lol Uer a funny guy.. lol.. My cruise control still doesn't work.. I'll be cleaning out various switches and such to try and get it going but I'm feeling its the shop who put things together wrong when they installed my braided steel cables last fall.. Chances are they'll admit that it might be their fault and fix it or I may end up paying oodles for someone to spend the time to learn how to do fix it and charge me oodles and oodles.. Or I may just go without Cruise Control until I get into the USA this spring (mine ist ein USA Bike)
