I was just reminising about my high school days and my first street bike. A Triumph 750 bonneville. Triumphs not everyones cup of tea but I was just wondering?Have you ever test drove a Rocket III ? I'm not asking if you would own one just how did 10 minutes behind the throttle feel?

Yeah have ridden the Triumph and the BSA 3 cylinder bikes. Great fun, have a different feel (vibration) and have quite a bit of zip for a 750. I can't ride these bikes for to far, maybe 50 miles, to much vibration and the suspension is terrible but a fun bike.

I took one of the Triumph demo rides of about 15 miles on the Rocket III 2 years ago. I was surprised at how easily it handled considering its shear mass. I'm not sure that it wouldn't make a good tourer for the right person though. I think the right person would be a big fella, bigger than I am. I've seen a posting from a pair of Brits who each bought Rocket IIIs and went coast to coast accross the USA on them, and seemed satisfied with the comfort on a long trip.

I decided to buy the Tour Deluxe over the Rocket III.

I currently own a 2001 Triumph Thunderbird (water cooled 855cc triple) and have previously owned 3 60/70's vintage Triumph twins.

Made me think of mine Boo. My first "big" bike was a 67 Bonnie 650. Great old bike. Girls liked it. Wiring was crappy but when it went it did good. And with the wiring you could make it quit when you wanted to.:innocent:

10 minutes behind the throttle felt like I WOULD get a ticket if I owned one. And the brakes were nothing short of amazing. It stopped faster than it took off.

But the seating/handlebars wasn't the most comfortable for me.

The Rocket 3 IS that. Tons of torque and horsepower, but dang that tank is BIG and to me the bike felt HUGE....

Currently Lusting after a new Bonneville though...
