Question regarding brakes.

How long do you go between changing out brake pads on your ride..........My Vstar is in the shop and they called and said I needed new brake pads front and back. I have right at 20,000 miles on them right now.................I dont believe I have abused the brakes, I thought I would get more out of them..............:think:

I was surprised when the first time I changed the back tire the rear pads were wore out. The fronts lasted a lot longer. I think I had about 12000 miles on it when the first back tire wore out.

I end up throwing pads on the back every time I change the tire (14k-15k). The front ones are original with 63,000 on them.

 

How far away is the shop? I'd at least want to make sure they're not trying to make a few extra bucks off ya. They don't call them "stealers" for nothing..

That sounds about right! Trying to save money on brakes, is not a good idea !

I tend to wear out my front brakes first, as I use that brake the most. My brakes usually last me a while, because I use the engine to do most of my braking. If you do more city(stop n go) driving, then they will wear out much quicker.
