Venture Steve Posted March 4, 2010 #1 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Hi Everyone, I have a 1984 Venture Royale that has had a slow leak in the system for several years! I loose 50% in 30 to 45 min. (front and back shocks). I have soaped all the lines,, and I do not see any signs of a leak!! Has anyone had this same problem?? Thanks, Steve Edited March 4, 2010 by Venture Steve
mraf Posted March 4, 2010 #2 Posted March 4, 2010 My rear shock would lose air on my 86 when I bought it. It turned out to be the class controller solder joints. Do this repair first . http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=493
Venture Steve Posted March 5, 2010 Author #3 Posted March 5, 2010 Did this!! It did not help! What else could it be? thanks, Steve
mraf Posted March 5, 2010 #4 Posted March 5, 2010 Have you soaped the rear shock? Its been awhile, but there is a small plastic valve located in a line or on the pump that could be bad. I replaced mine but that wasn't the problem. I all so bought another air pump assembly off e-bay. That wasn't the problem either. Mine was the class controller itself. It would release the air at the pump due to the bad electrical solder joints. I had to use a jewelers eyeglass in order to see the breaks in the solder they were so small. Maybe someone else will chime in with some help.
Condor Posted March 5, 2010 #5 Posted March 5, 2010 The seals in the shock and front forks may be leaking?? Did you try soaping those areas??
Venture Steve Posted March 5, 2010 Author #6 Posted March 5, 2010 I did not try soaping the forks or the shock. How do you get to the rear shock with removing the wheel? The controller looked BRAND NEW!! But I still touched up all the the connections. Testing last night,, The front lost half in 3 hours, and the rear had two lbs left! Where on the forks and shock have you seen leaks? Steve

Steve Well, the air has too be going somewhere, and I hate to be tossing suggestions at you, but have you soaped the fork fittings where the air lines connect? There's a couple of 'O' rings in there that could be worn?? There's also a possibility that the pump valve is leaking enternally?? With both the front and rear going down almost at the same time I think it's a pump issue.... maybe??
Bill W. Posted March 7, 2010 #8 Posted March 7, 2010 Is there a rebuild kit for the valve body, or is it a trip to the hardware store for O-rings?? I have kind of the same problem. I pump up only the rear shock, don't need air in the forks. Most of the time the air bleeds off, sometimes it doesn't. Re-soldered all of the joints in the controller. Beats the heck out of me.
