Eck Posted March 3, 2010 #6 Posted March 3, 2010 I wouldn't be here if it was not for wearing my helmet when this accident happened. I just had to post reminder photos of not only my helmet, but also my beautiful 05 Venture. Summer is upon us and cagers are not looking for motorcycles.. Please ride safe..

How in the heck do you have an accident at Devils Lake? I don't remember there being much in the way of traffic there. Spent 7 years between Minot and Jamestown. Cougar Posted March 3, 2010 #11 Posted March 3, 2010 Eck, that always makes my stomach sick to see your used to be bike like that. I know how much you loved her, and how clean you always kept it.
aspen60 Posted March 3, 2010 #12 Posted March 3, 2010 Wow, this thread kinda makes ya feel a little--------unsettled. Glad I wear my helmet everywhere.

Don't know what happend, last thing I remenber of that day is having breakfast in Brandon Mb. with Sarge 46 & the rest of the crew, before leaving to P.I.P. I was told later that my helmet saved my life. Ride safe Bob
emtdouggood Posted March 4, 2010 #14 Posted March 4, 2010 If it was legal I could show you many heads without helmets. Most of the fatal motorcycle accidents I have been on is the lack of wearing helmets. And the worst of it is that most the accidents are not the riders fault. My first cycle wreck I was on was a guy hit a 10 lb bambi. The only mark on the guy was his head. We did not make it to the hospital. His helmet was straped on the back of his bike.I hope i never have to go to a bike accident again. (But I know i will) Ride safe so I will never have to meet you.
rickardracing Posted March 4, 2010 #15 Posted March 4, 2010 Don't have a pic of my wifes helmet. She went down last October. She went down at 50 mph. Her bike, 07 Honda Shadow Spirit went into the ditch and barrel rolled. I have fixed the bike. The wife.....concussion, broken big toe on left foot and a torn ACL in her left knee. Her helmet and leather jacket and leather gloves saved her skin. Everyone....please ride safe!!
Yammer Dan Posted March 4, 2010 #16 Posted March 4, 2010 Is that blood inside the lens?? Yes that is blood. couldn't find out where it was coming from was a little scary. Gloves, Helmet, leather jacket and boots saved me a lot that night. That Bike of Eck's was very sharp. It was a shame.
Guest scarylarry Posted March 4, 2010 #17 Posted March 4, 2010 I have always been against wearing helmets but after looking at this over and over, I'm changing my mind about this issue...

Rick Butler Posted March 4, 2010 #20 Posted March 4, 2010 Here you go, Aug 19, 2006 6:30AM, I-35 & Garden Ridge exit in Lewisville, TX. Sure know how to tear up a good Shoei X-Eleven....not to mention a 2002 Midnight RSV. And I'm still riding it with 120k on it. Rick
Ponch Posted March 4, 2010 #21 Posted March 4, 2010 What is the story behind this wreck Ponch? Group ride down an Arkansas mountain. JB was near the end of the pack. The group slowed quickly and the end of the group stacked up. He intentionally ditched the bike at about 20 - 30 MPH to avoid hitting another bike. Both helmets were destroyed, JB had serious road rash and Robbie went to the hospital with broken bones.
geresti Posted March 4, 2010 #22 Posted March 4, 2010 Don't have pics yet but a lady hit me from behind yesterday and I wasn't stopped either and doctor said my helmet saved my life and jacket and chaps helped a lot too. No broken bones but was unconcsious for maybe a half an hour and woke up in the ambulance but home now and very sore. Haven' seen the bike yet. Helmets DO save lives along with the grace of GOD!
