silverdeer0454 Posted March 2, 2010 #1 Posted March 2, 2010 On the 27th of Feb I was honored to participate in a PGR mission for a corrections officer from Monroe Washington who was killed on his motorcycle by a 16 year old who was on her cell phone and not paying attention to her driving. After the memorial I started up by 05 RSTD and....No lights!! I knew it was a blown fuse but I didn't want to pull the cover on the fuse box, replace the fuse, and have it blow again as I tried to head home at night, only 80 miles but it was getting dark. Our ride Captain called Adventure Motorsports in Monroe. They were getting ready to close but would wait until I got there. As soon as I arrived the mechanic (Luke) took the bike into the shop. He diagnosed the problem as a bad connection from the passing lights...corrected it with a quick rewiring, replaced the fuse, threw in a couple of spares because I didn't have ANY spare fuses. I was charged a total of $12.00! This dealership stayed open for me, fixed the problem and got me back on the road in 1/2 hour! My hat is off to Adventure Motorsports. Here is their address and phone number if you ever need help in my part of Washington state. Adventure Motorsports 17321 Tye St SE #A Monroe, WA 98272 Phone: (360) 805-5550 silverdeer
Owen Posted March 2, 2010 #2 Posted March 2, 2010 There are some good dealers out there. You just have to look for them. Texas Yamaha here in south Houston is also one of the good ones.
RandyR Posted March 2, 2010 #3 Posted March 2, 2010 A good story about a dealer is welcome news from time to time.
eusa1 Posted March 2, 2010 #4 Posted March 2, 2010 a letter to the dealership manager/owner would be a nice gesture. thank you for letting us know the name and location. mike.
Kregerdoodle Posted March 2, 2010 #5 Posted March 2, 2010 I was thinking the same thing... Don, does VRO have a Thank You card or maybe a Thank You note on Letter Head from the VRO thanking them for taking care of a member of the VRO as well a PGR member??? Just a thought...
Freebird Posted March 3, 2010 #6 Posted March 3, 2010 No, but it's not a bad idea. It would be very hard to come up with a letterhead that could be used.
straycatt Posted March 3, 2010 #8 Posted March 3, 2010 They have a website, and a contact page. http://www.adventuremotorsports.net/index.htm It's always good to recognize someone when they make the extra effort that they didn't have to make.
eusa1 Posted March 3, 2010 #9 Posted March 3, 2010 i used the website info and thanked the mechanic via the website. mike
Iowawegian Posted March 3, 2010 #10 Posted March 3, 2010 Sent a thank you also to the website. Can't beat good service and sometimes it's really hard to find these days!!
Dave77459 Posted March 3, 2010 #11 Posted March 3, 2010 Great news about the dealer! Your experience is exactly why I rewired my passing lamps. They shorted too often (until I tracked down the reason months later), popping fuses and leaving me without any lights. On an RSTD, it's a simple matter to install a relay and dedicated wire/fuse to the passing lamps, and something you might consider. Dave
