A friend of mine has a 1999 Venture that has a air leak in his rear shock. Is their any fix for this or just get another shock. If a different shock is the fix what years will work?

Oil leaks are not uncommon but I haven't heard of many air leaks. I would start by using some soapy water and try to determine where it is leaking. Could simply be something loose. If he DOES find that it's a bad shock, any from 1999-current models will work. Works also makes an aftermarket shock. Both are fairly expensive though.

SDWooster,

To add a little more to what Freebird mentioned, I would have a spray bottle of soapy water ready, then put about 35 lbs of air into the rear shock. remove the air compressor hose and immediately I would spray a little soapy water onto the air inlet valve itself to make sure the valve core is not leaking first..it just might only be a leaking valve core....:confused24:

Then I would continue to check the complete air line system as Freebird mentioned by spraying the connection on the underside of the air inlet line and then following the air line to where it connects to the rear shock and spray that connection.
