Schlepporello Posted February 28, 2010 Author #26 Posted February 28, 2010 OK, I finally made my way back out to the garage to mess with the jack and take some pictures. First off, here's the jack. http://i49.tinypic.com/73303l.jpg The first thing I did was to check the pin behind the release pedal to make sure it wasn't stuck, it wasn't. As a matter of fact, I removed the pedal to check the pin and it came right out with the gentlest of tugs with the needlenosed pliers. I put everything back together and tried it again with no improved results. http://i50.tinypic.com/2w7fmg2.jpg Now on the other side of the jack are two screws. The larger one on the left (red arrow) was loose and backed out of the hole a bit when the jack was given to me. I've tried operating the jack with it set like i got it and with it run in to where it ought to be, both had the same result. I haven't touched the recessed screw on the right (yellow arrow) as I have no idea what it does or what it's for. http://i48.tinypic.com/2e31fn7.jpg The last thing I did was to turn the jack onto it's side and remove the fill plug. I filled the jack completely with jack fluid and still had no results. The only other thing I know to try is to drain off some of the fluid and see what happens.
Monty Posted February 28, 2010 #27 Posted February 28, 2010 That hydraulic jack, and the way it mounts is similar to the Pitbull setup. If you can't get it worked out, I'm sure they would sell you a jack. Their # is 1-888-299-9325. Tell them Patrick sent ya. First, you might try purging any air from the jack. Watch the video on the right in this link. He shows how to do it. http://pitbullmotorcyclelifts.com/facts.html
Schlepporello Posted February 28, 2010 Author #28 Posted February 28, 2010 Thanks Monty! I'll give that a shot.
RandyR Posted February 28, 2010 #29 Posted February 28, 2010 That jack looks mechanically 98% the same as the Sears red jack.
