bongobobny Posted February 24, 2010 #1 Posted February 24, 2010 This time it's a MK1 headlight assy with frame and adjuster rod. It is in good to excellent condition, and has a Silverstar bulb in it. PM or answer here...
Pappa Bear Posted February 24, 2010 #2 Posted February 24, 2010 Is the MK1 83 - 85? It won't fit an 89 will it?
bongobobny Posted February 24, 2010 Author #3 Posted February 24, 2010 No it won't. Well actually it can but you have to change the left side fairing frame and the headlight bezel and chrome trim, and end up with a less efficient light...
Dano Posted February 24, 2010 #4 Posted February 24, 2010 Heck with the frame and bucket, just send me the lamp! (Actually don't need it, some one else might tho) you're doing a yeomans job here Bob, keep it up!
a1bummer Posted February 24, 2010 #5 Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) I knew there was something different about the MKII headlights. Butt how are they better? Is it worth the effort to put the MKII setup on my MKI? Would anybody happen to have an exploded view of the MKII headlight assembly? I can't find where it is in the PDF of the MKII manual. Thanks, Bill Edited February 24, 2010 by a1bummer
bongobobny Posted February 24, 2010 Author #6 Posted February 24, 2010 OK the big downfall of the MK1 headlight is that BLACK rubber bezel!! Last time I checked black ABSORBS all light, as opposed to WHITE, which REFLECTS all light. The MK2 headlight does not have black but rather a silver reflector, but solver actually does absorb a minute amount of light, being a variance of grey which has an element of black to it. If you want to improve the output of a MK1 headlight, remove the rubber bezel and paint it white with a paint that works on rubber. Clean the rubber with a good detergent followed by a good alcohol rinse...
