V4 cover insert

I was looking at a Vmax form and some fellow mentioned that there were V4 logo inserts available for the vmax for the Stator and Clutch covers. Mine are missing some chrome so I went and looked and I think they look cool. Now my question is...will they fit my 85 G1?

Here is the link. they are at the bottom of the page under vmax engine enhancements page, sorry it wont let me link directly to it.

Yeah, right :D :D ... but you noticed the "for sure" Part ??

I think they will fit, because the Vmax Stator Cover even carries the Pivot Hole for the VR Linkage, but .... since i didn't check this and never read or heard about someone trying to, i say i don't know "for sure".

What Clutch Pressure do you have ? If it's the stock six Spring Setup, a Vmax Cover won't fit. If not, a Vmax Cover and the Insert will most likely fit.

Well, I must admit I am somewhat shocked myself! :yikes::yikes::yikes: So with that being said,

The 85'VR has the single spring like the MKII VR's. (1984 was the last year of the multi-spring clutch spring pack) As far as the cover fitting the clutch case, it looks like the hole pattern is the same for the mounting of the cover but other than that, I can't say for sure either.

His is the multi spring pack, as I changed out the springs last year & put Barnett springs in. I would have thought, that the spring types would have been changed, along with the engine displacement.

I am almost certain the generator side will not fit.

I have an 83 & 88 here, and on both generator side covers, the timing plug does not intersect with the center round chrome cover.

It is outside the diameter of this cover.

In the picture it shows the timing hole intersecting this cover.

You can see the difference in the attached pictures.

Side cover on desk is from my 83. Other is clip of Vmax inserts.

:crying:

Hey Rocket,

Thanks for the clarification, According to the parts fiche, the USA model 85'VR has the single spring.

Dingy, good eye! I actually misunderstood, I thought he wanted to change out the entire Stator and Clutch Covers, not just the emblem on the covers, my Bad!

I looked up the cover gaskets and it appears the right side is the same but the left side has different part numbers. So there may be a difference on the generator side. This is based on 86 model, site doesn't show 85 or down.

86 Venture left cover gasket 26H-15455-01-00

86 Vmax left cover gasket 1FK-15455-00-00

86 Venture right cover gasket 26H-15449-00-00

86 Vmax right cover gasket 26H-15449-00-00

I hate to say this but with all the custom stuff some of our members make here , how hard would be to make them or use a overlay of shiny SS with V4 printed on it , we could drill and tap the old ones and use screws to hold them on , or use a cnc to make new ones with the V4 on them , what would the cost be for lots of 20 ? who makes the bag lock covers for the 2nd Gens ? or maybe the neat decals like the ones Freebird got us with VenturRider.org .

mine look like you know what and i would like a new set .

OK i'll shut up and go back to my corner :stirthepot:
