Monty Posted February 19, 2010 #1 Posted February 19, 2010 Will my RSV fit in a 5'x9' U-haul ramp trailer? They don't have any of the motorcycle trailers available here. Anyone used one?
Scooter Bob Posted February 19, 2010 #2 Posted February 19, 2010 Darnit... These things are usually so dependable... What broke on it? Don't know if it will fit, I've never had to put mine on a trailer.. Later, Scooter Bob
Monty Posted February 19, 2010 Author #3 Posted February 19, 2010 Not broke, need to haul it home 700 miles. Weather isn't the greatest, so I may trailer it. Peace of mind.
barend Posted February 19, 2010 #4 Posted February 19, 2010 Weather is great! clear and temps going up to mid 50's today and close to 60 tomorrow. You must b in the wrong part of the country:stickpoke::sun:
SilvrT Posted February 19, 2010 #5 Posted February 19, 2010 a U-haul 5x9 ramp trailer is what I used... http://www.uhaul.com/guide/index.aspx?equipment=opentrailer-5x9
jlh3rd Posted February 19, 2010 #6 Posted February 19, 2010 it fits in the back of the 4x8 bed in my truck....and i can shut the tailgate....
Monty Posted February 19, 2010 Author #8 Posted February 19, 2010 it fits in the back of the 4x8 bed in my truck....and i can shut the tailgate.... I hauled my 1st gen home in the 4'x8' bed of my F-150, and the tailgate wouldn't shut. I think the RSV is longer than the 1st gen.
SilvrT Posted February 19, 2010 #9 Posted February 19, 2010 Thank you SilvrT!! YVW ... that was when I bought the scoot in Calgary, Alberta and hauled it back to Vancouver ... appx 1300 kilometers. Had no problems at all.
Mel Posted February 19, 2010 #10 Posted February 19, 2010 My handbook says overall length is 104.5 inches. If my math is OK, a 9 foot trailer should be 108 inches. That would be a close fit, but should be OK. Mel:Venture:
Squidley Posted February 19, 2010 #11 Posted February 19, 2010 As long as it's an open bed trailer it will fit, the trunk is what will jam you up if your going in an enclosed trailer.
jlh3rd Posted February 19, 2010 #12 Posted February 19, 2010 monty 2008 extended cab silverado, long bed.....if the bike is angled in , it fits with the tailgate shut.....i haven't measured the bed, but assume it's 4x8.....yes..the bike fits...hauled it out to albuquerque 2 years ago...
CMIKE Posted February 19, 2010 #13 Posted February 19, 2010 If you are thinking enclosed trailer...do not forget the inside height as the bike comes up the ramp and entering the trailer...Windsheild may hit the top of the trailer. Do not ask how I found this out. My buddies Ultra Classic is hauled in it all the time. Not the RSV with a stock windshield.
Monty Posted February 19, 2010 Author #14 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks for the replies. I reserved a Uhaul 5x9 ramp trailer like the one pictured above. Gonna load it up in the morning, and head home. Might have to ride it at least part way home......lol
Naked Rider Posted February 19, 2010 #15 Posted February 19, 2010 make sure you take a wooden block to put in front of the tire so you dont mess up the front fender:scared:
