Guest human4m Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Hey all, I'm thinking of taking off the Cylinder Head Covers, and having them powdercoated, and I figured since it's liquid-cooled, it shouldn't affect heat dispersion too much... Anyone have any input on why I shouldn't move forward with this idea?
jburrell Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 These fins do not assist in cooling the block in any way since its watercooled. Paint em any color you want just dont try to run engine with them off. Jim
Guest human4m Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Not to sound like an idiot, but is there a gasket behind them, or anything I need to worry about coming out/off when I remove them? Instead of powdercoating, I may just fork out the $$ for Mirrachrome paint. It's 'spensive, but gorgeous!
Squidley Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Not to sound like an idiot, but is there a gasket behind them, or anything I need to worry about coming out/off when I remove them? There are rubber plugs behind them for the coolant, when the cover is on it keeps the plugs in place. There isn't a gasket that you have to worry about coming apart.
Guest human4m Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Cool deal, Pickle... As long as the plugs don't jump off into the grass when I start pullin the cover off, I'm happy.
