supersail Posted February 17, 2010 #1 Posted February 17, 2010 Last summer, I picked up set of warn-n-safe gloves and jacket at the local shop on clearance. I then found out my bike couldn't handle the load so they just sat. Now that I have the new ride, I'd like to get them hooked up. So my question to those of you have this stuff, where do you mount the controller or should it just go in a pocket or something like that. Do you need to get at it very often? I know they have several different versions of the controller and I'm wondering which to get and how to hook it up.
Herb In Texas Posted February 17, 2010 #2 Posted February 17, 2010 I have Gerbing, and I use two sided tape to stick it to the tank. Then when summer comes i pull it off and stow it.
Gary N. Posted February 17, 2010 #3 Posted February 17, 2010 My controller has a belt clip and I just attach it to my jeans pocket or chaps. I find it too hard to reach on my belt. Depending on the outside temp. I do make frequent adjustments plus I like to turn it off when riding slow in town.
supersail Posted February 17, 2010 Author #4 Posted February 17, 2010 Both of those options sound decent to me, it would be nice to have mounted somewhere outa sight but accessible, but I can't think of a good one. Double sided tape will really just pull off of the paint with no problem?
Guest tx2sturgis Posted February 17, 2010 #5 Posted February 17, 2010 One thing to think about is that sooner or later you WILL get off the bike and forget to unhook the connector. So I have mine attached to the tank bra with Velcro....so it lets go, when I forget to!
davepa Posted February 17, 2010 #6 Posted February 17, 2010 I have the remote dual controller (wireless) from W & S and use it on both bikes mounting with velcro on top or clutch reservoir.
fortygeek Posted February 18, 2010 #7 Posted February 18, 2010 I have Gerbings gear. Bought the clip-on holder for my controller and clip it onto the leg of my chaps. Easy to get to when you need to adjust the temp.
supersail Posted February 18, 2010 Author #8 Posted February 18, 2010 I like the velcro and the clip idea. I'll think I'll just get the portable one and see what works the best for me. Thanks for the input folks!
supersail Posted February 18, 2010 Author #9 Posted February 18, 2010 Well, either I'm just completely spaced out here, or they just added today a remote controlled wireless option. The receiver goes in your pocket and then you just put the knobs anywhere you like so I just ordered that. That really makes it easy now for mounting options.

I'm not seeing that on they're web site. Got a link?
RedRider Posted February 19, 2010 #11 Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) I mounted mine with sticky backed velcro on the bottom side of the faring. Right under the cruise control on/off switch and above the triple tree nut. Looks like OEM. Looking for a picture, but I can't find it. Found it on my work computer this morning. Gary N. Posted February 19, 2010 #13 Posted February 19, 2010 Thanks, that's news to me too. Not available on the Gerbings site but looks like the same plug ends.
Venturing Sole Posted February 19, 2010 #14 Posted February 19, 2010 I have the female battery-side connector zip tied just in front of the seat on the tank bra facing left and I have my temp controller in the belt pouch which I clip to the left waist adjustment strap of my jacket. Easily reached while riding and if I forget to unplug as I get off, the plug can pull away. I use the Warm Gear gloves and Heat-troller and like them very much.
