E-Fishin-C Posted February 15, 2010 #1 Posted February 15, 2010 I may crack jokes on the 2nd Gens But I have to admit they are the most dependable scoot on the Market and thats why Yamaha isnt changing anything Why should they. How many recalls have you heard for These scoots
Yammer Dan Posted February 15, 2010 #2 Posted February 15, 2010 We make a lot of noise about 1st Gen and 2nd Gens but that big V-4 and a lot of other things they have in common make them both pretty tough. Hate to admit it but early 1st Gens probally had more problems. But they were still a cut above the rest!!

eusa1 Posted February 15, 2010 #4 Posted February 15, 2010 i have owned both 1st and 2 nd gen ventures, i had more concerns with the 1st gen, and i think its because the 1st gen had more electronic gizmoes to fail. and had air ride pump ect... even with those concerns i must say that i enjoyed every mile. and it did handle the twisties better than my 2nd gen. but as i get older, i really enjoy the extra overall room to stretch out on my 2nd gen. no tupperware to hit my knees on...i'm 6'6" with 38"inseam. As long as yamaha does not change the venture, my 2nd gen will hold it's value longer, i remember when they came out with the 2nd gen, the value of my first gen dropped like a rock, and was several years before the value came back up on the 1st gen and if you look, you will see that the value of the 1st gen is higher now than it was in 99 or 00 there's my $.02 mike

ken Posted February 15, 2010 #6 Posted February 15, 2010 Wellllll! It would be nice to see some up grades. For ex... a indash CD player, FI, 6 speed tranny. Just sayin thats all. Oh ya a few more color choices wouldn't hurt.
skydoc_17 Posted February 16, 2010 #7 Posted February 16, 2010 Hey Mike, I must admit, you have a very nice looking Second Gen. and if you ever get the chance to "Venture" to the eastern states, It would be my pleasure to offer you a place to stay, and some beautiful country to ride in, So with that being said, the downside of that trip would be the "Beatin'" I'd throw on ya' with my 87'VR and then of course, that LONG ride home with the BACKSIDE of my VR etched into your brain. But please don't let that little detail ruin what would otherwise be a GREAT trip, you are always welcome! Earl

You dont need a cd player when you have sirus and you dont n eed FI and you dont need a 6 speed tranny because if you got a 6 speed tranny than you'll complain you need a 7 speed Tranny:Laugh:
Yammer Dan Posted February 16, 2010 #9 Posted February 16, 2010 120 MPH in 3rd Gear on my 84. What in the HE** do yo need 5 gears for????
RandyR Posted February 16, 2010 #10 Posted February 16, 2010 After looking at the gas mileage some FI machines are getting, I'm not sure its the panacea I thought it was. Its certainly more complicated and expensive to maintain.

Yammer Dan Posted February 16, 2010 #12 Posted February 16, 2010 At least you didn't shoot down the wish for more color choices. Did I mention I like the BLUE???
GlennTuc Posted February 17, 2010 #13 Posted February 17, 2010 They've been making the same motor/bike for 30 years. I think they've got it down now. Glenn
Skid Posted February 17, 2010 #14 Posted February 17, 2010 Did I mention I like the BLUE??? Midnight.....
Yammer Dan Posted February 17, 2010 #15 Posted February 17, 2010 Brown Sugar hard to beat when it comes to looks.

Yammer Dan Posted February 17, 2010 #17 Posted February 17, 2010 Just will never be able to understand why they detuned? the engine from the 83. Fix 2nd gear and they really had something there. I have a 83 with a new frame and a 2nd gear for it with a V-Max rear. Now if I just had a place to work on it.
Skid Posted February 17, 2010 #18 Posted February 17, 2010 ... Now if I just had a place to work on it. You are retired, and I thought you was building you a garage??
Carbon_One Posted February 17, 2010 #19 Posted February 17, 2010 You are retired, and I thought you was building you a garage?? He's a slacker now that he don't work no more. Gettn real soft he is. Bet we hear a bunch of come spring he ain't got the bike done yet. Nor the garage either. Larry
Yammer Dan Posted February 17, 2010 #20 Posted February 17, 2010 Bike I"m riding will be ready. That building ain't growing much with all this snow. The other bike is scattered all over.
