Cougar Posted February 13, 2010 #1 Posted February 13, 2010 (edited) First of all I would like to thank Squidley, Eusa1, and StudMuffin. Still need one more set though. For providing me with the parts I needed. I got a hold of some older Chrysler Emblems and starting hacking , dremaling , and I still am not done yet. But almost! I want you to tell me what you like or do not like. OR Don't even add the part. Should I place it on the bottom of the hatch or the middle? These are not even glued or set it. I just have them hanging and they still need to be cleaned up.. HEY , I gotta do something to keep me busy during this long long winter The one That (YOU) decide I should not use will go on my Trailer back-side. These are pics of Just the star and the other is with the star and logo. These are of just the star in the middle and lower of my trunk hatch # 1 - # 2 - These are of just the star with logo in the middle and lower of my trunk hatch # 3 - #4 - # 3 - The one with the star logo does form better on the hatch I noticed and it is a bit wider. Thanks for your in-put! Jeff Edited February 14, 2010 by Cougar
eusa1 Posted February 14, 2010 #2 Posted February 14, 2010 (edited) jeff, i don't know how to make the pics that you want, larger? i just figured out how to turn the computer on and off last week...sorry? i like the picture of the star # 1 without the script showing and in the center of the lid higher above the hinges...put a number on each picture to help folks vote or give opinion.. looks great! mike Edited February 14, 2010 by eusa1
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #3 Posted February 14, 2010 Now Numbered. Hey did you say you had one more badge laying around? I need to re-cut the star part again. Thanks for the in-put ! So You like # 1 then. That is what I am afraid of *LOL* now I have to try and figure out how to put a slight bend to the emblem.
eusa1 Posted February 14, 2010 #4 Posted February 14, 2010 e-mail your addy to me and you can have the badge royalstarventure03@yahoo.com
BuckShot Posted February 14, 2010 #5 Posted February 14, 2010 No. 1 or 3---Both look great. figureing it out
skydoc_17 Posted February 14, 2010 #6 Posted February 14, 2010 Hey Cougar, Man, either one looks great! I like the way you "think outside the box!" I personally put things on my bike to make ME happy, but that's just me. The combination of the Royal Star Emblem and the Chrysler emblem was a stroke of genius! (My brother is a BIG Chrysler Fan!) And I recognized that emblem right away. Sometimes, I let my wife, (Jean) choose, which usually means a LOT of extra work! Either way, you've got a winner there. My hat's off to the gents who donated the emblems, Thats what I like about this "Family". Earl
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #7 Posted February 14, 2010 Kinda Funny, My Wife told me why don't you add a Chrysler Emblem some how with the Star part in it a last week when she saw a car with the logo on it when she was going to work. then I said to myself I have seen that on eusa1's trailer a last year when he stopped by. I showed her the pictures of Eusa1's she said I like that , that's my idea *LOL* I have always loved how that looked on his trailer . so that being said I have dove into this new project! for the Trike and the Tralier ! the original idea came from Mr. eusa1 though. So far it looks like one of the Emblems is going on the middle of the hatch cover. I always ask my wife and she say's to ask you guys! *LOL* she is pretty good with colors and were to place thing though.
Riderduke Posted February 14, 2010 #8 Posted February 14, 2010 now I have to try and figure out how to put a slight bend to the emblem. I had to do that to a logo I put on my rear trunk. I soaked it in hot water for a few mins took it out and formed it. Let it cool and do it again till you get the desired bend. It took be several times of heating and cooling before I got the bent I wanted.
Chaplain Posted February 14, 2010 #10 Posted February 14, 2010 I'm still trying to figure out how to get the gold back on my letters and look what you do! They all look good but I believe that picture #3 is more stylish. You will pick the one you like anyway and it will then be right! Blessings
Squidley Posted February 14, 2010 #11 Posted February 14, 2010 Jeff, Nice work with the emblem, personally I like the setup with the Royal Star in the emblem. The pic you have labeled #3 is the position I like on the bike. Seems to me you loose more impact if you have it too close to the chrome hinges. Centered out in pic 3 fills a barren spot on the trunk in my opinion
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #12 Posted February 14, 2010 Thanks for the great tip David! Looks like in the Center and # 1 is getting the most votes so far I think. Kind of a fun project! Still got more winter projects only 45 days until spring ! I finely learned how to stock pile ALL my projects and do them while not riding for almost 5/6 months around here. Took me a long time to get used to this from living in Calif for most of my life.
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #13 Posted February 14, 2010 OH NO! Now # 3 is in the lead! was kinda hoping that! As the bend is perfect! keep it going guys! As far as adding the black back into the letters. go down to your local hobby store and pick up some testers black model pant and a small brush, and paint away if your fast enough just paint on and take a paper towel and go over the top removing any black paint on the plastic chrome part. maybe with a little rubbing alcohol . as the painted part is resets.
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #14 Posted February 14, 2010 Yippy! Squidley made me a poll! Thanks Bro! OK EVERYBODY use the poll! Jeff
Squidley Posted February 14, 2010 #15 Posted February 14, 2010 Yippy! Squidley made me a poll! Thanks Bro! OK EVERYBODY use the poll! Jeff You Betcha Buddy
Carbon_One Posted February 14, 2010 #16 Posted February 14, 2010 My vote went to #3 as well. I like the emblem either centered or up higher as Squidely says. Nice project you have going here Jeff. It's going to really look sharp when done. Larry
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #17 Posted February 14, 2010 Thanks Larry, I can not wait until your project is all done as well. I am so jealous of your extra tank I wish with your knowledge you could come up with one to adapt real easy to the Hannigan! I respect the kind of work and knowledge that you have and share. Jeff
atlm Posted February 14, 2010 #18 Posted February 14, 2010 Nice work! Definitely the higher, as the emblem draws your attention to the hinges in the lower position. With how beefy the back end of the bike looks, the beefier emblem seems to fill it in nicer. It might help to have a couple of pictures from slightly farther away, showing the whole back end. I still voted #3, though.
Cougar Posted February 14, 2010 Author #19 Posted February 14, 2010 Michael , here is one, when I had it just kinda on there. but not as high. but a better distance pic. the bottom picture is not supposed to be there
bryan52577 Posted February 14, 2010 #20 Posted February 14, 2010 I like # 3 too Jeff! And I must say, it looks great!!! Bryan
