Beau-Kat Posted February 13, 2010 #1 Posted February 13, 2010 Posted this in "Want to buy" classifieds. Probably shoulda posted it here for better response. Anyway, I'm looking for a 1st Gen plastic cassette raincover for my 1988VR. Any ideas where I can find one? There probably aren't any venders offering new ones, are there? Thanks for any help. Rusty
MiCarl Posted February 13, 2010 #2 Posted February 13, 2010 Yamaha Part # 26H-88153-00-00. $22.46 at www.cheapcycleparts.com. Since I don't have any cassette tapes I decided to just let weather hit the player.

DragonRider Posted February 13, 2010 #4 Posted February 13, 2010 Last time I looked BikeBandit.com had them for around $30.00 NOS. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1985-yamaha-motorcycle-venture-royale-xvz12dn/o/m7866 It is item #47 on the schematic, listed at $28.86. When you go to this link click on the audio equipment box and it will bring up the schematic. Posted this in "Want to buy" classifieds. Probably shoulda posted it here for better response. Beau-Kat Posted February 13, 2010 Author #6 Posted February 13, 2010 Thanks guys. I appreciate the info. Everything on this bike is in fantastic condition and I plan to ride it on trips and let the Millenium rest a bit. My trips almost...(O.K. insert honesty here) always conjure up rain, so I just wanted to get the cover in case. And I do still have a selection of cassettes that still play well. I'd like to figure out a way to install a plug-in for my MP3 (like the MM) at some point. Any of y'all ever add an MP3 port to a 1st gen system?
Condor Posted February 13, 2010 #7 Posted February 13, 2010 They used to make a cassette insert with a plug to your CD player. They might have something to work with your MP3. Time marches on... except with Yamaha....
Skid Posted February 13, 2010 #8 Posted February 13, 2010 I have a cassette cover that I could have sold you listed in the classifieds ... It comes with the bike.....
Beau-Kat Posted February 13, 2010 Author #9 Posted February 13, 2010 Good answer, Skid! Now that was funny...like I need another bike. But, I'm always tempted. I probably oughta start thinning some of the rides outa my herd. But the're all just so darn cute and they give me a lotta love.
cecdoo Posted February 13, 2010 #10 Posted February 13, 2010 They actually make a cassette that holds an sd card loaded with music, just pop it in your player and you are good to go. Craig

cecdoo Posted February 13, 2010 #12 Posted February 13, 2010 Really? Cool! Any idea on who sells that thing? Sent you a PM with the link, hope it works:fingers-crossed-emo Craig The unit is a cheesy looking thing, but it works just fine, I used it for quite awhile till I got my gps with mp3 built in. Nice part is no wires. It plays random like the shuffle, worked for me:080402gudl_prv:
Condor Posted February 13, 2010 #13 Posted February 13, 2010 I did a google search for SD Cassette> and came up with all sorts of hits. Looks like they retail for anywhere between $15.00 to $30.00. Very cool....
