Gauge set readings

O.K. I got the gauge set I bought from Ponch all hooked up now and so far it don't leak.

Well after I tightened it down some more.

I do have a few questions for those of you that have it.

 

By the way I love the looks.

 

My oil gauge reads almost zero at adle but reads 40psi at 40 mph and 60psi at 60 or higher speeds.

 

the amp gauge reads a little over 12 at idle but will move up to about 14amps at 50 or better mph.

 

Temperature goes up to about 190 or so after about 15 minutes of riding time.

 

Are all of these normal or within range for the VENTURE???...............Ron

Well, the rule of thumb is...you need 10 PSI oil pressure per 1000 RPM....but since there is no tach.........

Yes, I have gauges on my bike and the readings you are getting are good.

yes.......on all counts....including oil pressure

The water will read higher at times..It will go up t around 220 if I remember correct and higher on really hot days..dont worry thoughit is normal.

Those are all normal Ron, the oil pressure is the one that will freak you out at 1st, your good buddy

If I recall correctly, oil pressure at idle with engine hot is around 5psi so yes, the gauge needle will sit pretty low. When you first start the bike, pressure will go up to around 60 and stay there for a while until the engine is warmed up. All normal.

You are right Brad it did freek me out with the oil reading.LOL

I thought something was REALLY, REALLY wrong.

Now I just need to find a gauge pod or get a tach to mount

that looks as if it belongs on the bike..................Ron
